🎓 Exploring College Campuses and Inspiring Future Success!

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Youth Services Unit (YSU) and Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) recently accompanied students from the Florin Law Academy (FLA) on college campus tours, helping them explore higher education opportunities and envision their futures!

🏫 Students visited Sacramento State and UC Davis, gaining firsthand exposure to university campuses and the many possibilities available after high school.

These experiences go beyond touring colleges. They help students broaden their horizons, set educational goals, and build confidence as they consider their future paths.

🌟 And the journey is just beginning! FLA students have additional college tours planned, including UC Merced, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UCLA, UC Irvine, and San Diego State University, with a Southern California tour scheduled for next month.

SAL is proud to support these students as they explore new opportunities, pursue their goals, and prepare for a successful future!

⚾ Honoring a Hero, Inspiring the Next Generation 💙

Today, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) had the honor of participating in the 16th Annual Jeff Mitchell Wiffleball Tournament at Elk Grove Regional Park.

Our SAL team was joined by student-athletes from two different high school baseball teams sponsored by SAL, who took to the field and participated in the Wiffleball games. This gave these young athletes an opportunity to be part of a meaningful community tradition while honoring a fallen hero.

Deputy Jeffrey Mitchell, who was killed in the line of duty on October 27, 2006, had a deep love for baseball. This annual tournament brings together family, friends, law enforcement, and community members to celebrate his life and keep his legacy alive.

A special thank-you to the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, STAR 6 Foundation, the Mitchell family, and everyone who helped make this event possible.

💙 Baseball is more than just a game. Events like these bring generations together, strengthen community relationships, and give our youth an opportunity to learn the importance of service, teamwork, and honoring those who came before us.

🎓 Connecting with students and supporting their future!

Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sacramento Sheriff's Office Youth Services Unit and Sheriff’s Activities League (YSU/SAL) team recently had the opportunity to attend an event hosted by Options For Youth Public Charter Schools.

Our deputies spent time connecting with students, answering questions, and sharing information about the Sheriff’s Office and opportunities available through the Explorer Program. 🚔 Students were able to stop by our table, meet deputies, and learn more about ways to get involved while enjoying a positive and welcoming environment.

Thank you to Options For Youth for inviting our team and giving us the opportunity to engage with students outside of the traditional classroom setting. 🤝

These conversations help build positive relationships, encourage young people to explore their future, and strengthen connections between our deputies and the youth we serve. 💙

🎒 Supporting Students, Strengthening Our Community 📚

Today, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sacramento Sheriff's Office , in partnership with the Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL), delivered backpacks and school supplies to Olive Grove Elementary School Olive Grove Elementary School .

These supplies—generously donated by members of our community—will help ensure students have the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

A special thank-you to Walmart for providing a location for our school-supply drive, and to everyone who donated. Your generosity made this possible and will have a meaningful impact on local students.

Together, we are helping our students start the school year prepared and confident! 💙

Last week SAL/YSU deputies took a group of approximately 120 youth to a Sacramento River Cats baseball game. The kids all got a t-shirt and were treated to a barbecue lunch before the game. This is something we do every year and it’s always a great time!

SAL Deputy Hauck surprised the senior Florin Law Academy class with Chick-fil-A chocolate chip cookies to support A Sweet Day of Giving where proceeds from every chocolate chip cookie sold benefitted the Make-A-Wish foundation. Thank you Chick-Fil-A for supporting SAL and Make-A-Wish.
