🚊 A new connection is coming to Sacramento’s River District.

The California Strategic Growth Council joined Sacramento Regional Transit, local leaders and community members to celebrate the completion of the new Dos Rios Light Rail Station.

The station will connect the River District and Mirasol Village to Sacramento’s light rail system, helping residents more easily reach jobs, schools, healthcare and other essential services.

The project received $20 million through SGC programs, building on broader state investments in affordable housing, transit, walking and biking infrastructure in the community.

🆕New Resource for State Staff!

📋 Grants and contracts shape how public resources, services, and opportunities are distributed across California. Even well-intended administrative processes can create barriers that limit who is able to access and benefit from funding opportunities.

🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 To help address these challenges, the Strategic Growth Council’s Health and Equity Program and the Equity and Wellness Institute collaborated to develop the Health in All Policies (HiAP) Grant and Contract Evaluation Tool.

🌱 This resource helps state staff identify and reduce barriers early in the process, improve accessibility, streamline grant and contract processes, and advance transparency, equity, and public health.

California’s climate assessments turn science into information communities can use.

Through successive assessments, California has worked with researchers, communities and partners to better understand how climate change is affecting the state and how those impacts vary across regions.

The Fifth Climate Change Assessment builds on that work with updated climate projections, original research, regional and topical synthesis reports, and an expanded focus on Tribal research and the needs of communities most vulnerable to climate impacts.

👏🏽🎊Please join us in welcoming Eric S. De La Cruz as Executive Director of the California Racial Equity Commission!

Eric was sworn in on September 1, joined by his family, the Racial Equity Commission team and LCI Director Samuel Assefa.

As Executive Director, Eric brings extensive experience in civil rights, environmental justice, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and workplace wellness to the Commission’s work advancing racial equity across California.

Throughout his career in public service and the allied medical field, Eric has built a reputation for collaborative leadership, resourcefulness and a deep commitment to serving communities.

We’re excited to welcome Eric to this role as the Commission continues its work to address racial inequities and help build a more equitable California for all.
