πŸ“šπŸš’πŸŽ§ Career Day at Sierra Oaks K-8

Recently, one of our Fire/EMS Communications Center calltakers had the unique opportunity to combine two important rolesβ€”serving our community as a calltaker and being a proud mom at Sierra Oaks K-8 School.

As part of the school’s Career Day, she shared what it’s like to be the calm voice on the other end of a 9-1-1 call and taught students about the important role calltakers play in emergency response. From answering questions about 9-1-1 to explaining how callers help first responders get where they’re needed, students were eager to learn how emergency communications works behind the scenes.

We are grateful for opportunities like these to connect with our community, inspire future public servants, and help young students understand when and how to call 9-1-1.

Thank you to Sierra Oaks K-8 for welcoming us and allowing us to share a glimpse into the world of Fire/EMS communications. We loved meeting so many curious and engaged students!

πŸš¨πŸ’™β€οΈ EMS WEEK 2026 β€οΈπŸ’™πŸš¨
May 17 – May 23

This EMS Week, the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center proudly recognizes the dedicated dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and first responders who serve our communities every single day.

Behind every emergency response is a team working together β€” from the first 911 call to patient care on scene. Our dispatchers remain a vital link in the EMS Chain of Survival, providing calm, coordination, and lifesaving support when seconds matter most.

We invite our allied agencies and regional public safety partners to join us in celebrating the professionals behind the headset, behind the radio, and on the front lines.

πŸš‘ Throughout EMS Week, we welcome our partner agencies to stop by the Communications Center to connect with our team, show support, and help recognize the incredible work being done throughout our region.

Thank you to all those who answer the call to serve. πŸ”₯πŸŽ§πŸš’πŸš‘

Today, we celebrate all mothers β€” especially the incredible mothers within our communications center who balance the demanding role of dispatcher and parent every single day. πŸ’πŸŽ§πŸš’πŸš‘

Behind every headset is a dedicated professional providing calm during emergencies, coordinating lifesaving resources, and helping keep the Sacramento community safe β€” all while also being caring mothers, role models, and the heart of their families at home.

To the moms working holidays, late nights, weekends, and long shifts so others can receive help when they need it most: thank you for your strength, compassion, and sacrifice.

Your commitment to both your families and your community does not go unnoticed.

From all of us at the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center β€” Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms in dispatch and throughout our community. ❀️🌹
