Roughly 29% of the city’s residents are Hispanic or Latino, according to U.S. Census data. Jim Gonzalez, chair of the Latino Economic Council, said the forum is important to ensuring the Latino community is not overlooked by any future mayor. All issues are Latinos issues, he added.

Each year, more than 4,100 Latinx gente die from gun violence in the U.S. —an average of 11 deaths TODOS LOS DIAS & 13,300 are shot and wounded. We must find better solutions to ending gun violence, es demasiado importante!

¡Vamos! On THURSDAY, JULY 21 , at 1830 9th Street, Sac (Dem Party Headquarters)—Latinx Young Dems, FemDems, API Young Dems, Black Young Dems & Sac Young Dems will be focusing on combating gun violence and how to get involved. Hear from Moms Demand Action and other advocates. Come with ideas and questions!! 🚫✊🏽💡

Join Fem Dems of Sacramento, Latinx Young Dems, API Young Dems, and Black Young Dems as we discuss the work being done in our communities to combat gun violence and how we can get involved. The panel will be composed of community advocates who have been working in gun violence prevention space, policy space, and who have been directly impacted. Please join us this Thursday, March 3rd at 6pm via zoom for a “Special LYD General Membership” meeting to vote on endorsements.

The Political Committee met and will be recommending endorsements for a number of local, county and statewide races!

Please note that only LYD members who have paid their membership dues and have attended at least two meetings or LYD sponsored events in the past year, are in good standing to vote on endorsements.
