Remembrance: 2006 Kuril Islands
On this date: The M8.3 Kuril Islands earthquake occurred at the continental slope of the deep Kuril-Kamchatka Trench. The earthquake was the largest earthquake to have occurred in the central Kuril Islands since the early 20th century, and generated the strongest trans-Pacific tsunami since the Alaska tsunami of 1964, damaging Crescent City docks.

1980 Eureka, CA Earthquake
On this date: 39 years ago, a M7.2 earthquake hit Eureka, CA. It left 6 people injured and $2 million in property damage. The damages consisted of houses being displaced from their foundations, two sections of an overpass on US 101 collapsing onto the railroad tracks, and sewer, gas and water lines breaking.

Remembrance: 2002 Denali, AK Earthquake
Yesterday marked 17 years since the M7.9 earthquake that occurred in Denali, AK on November 3, 2002. It left behind no structural damage or loss of life, however it was one of the largest quakes recorded on U.S. soil. The shock ruptured the ground a span of 209 miles along the Susitna Glacier, Denali, and the Totschunda Faults leading to thousands of landslides.

Remembrance: 1983 Borah Peak, ID Earthquake
On this date: 36 years ago a M6.9 earthquake caused vertical displacements of up to 16 feet, multiple rockfalls and landslides on the steep slopes of the Lost River Range, water fountains and sand boils near Chilly and the Mackay Reservoir, and changing flows and wells.

Remembrance: 1868 Hayward, CA Earthquake
On this date: One of the most destructive earthquakes in California history hit Hayward, CA 151 years ago today. Around 20 miles of ground rupture from San Leandro to Fremont was caused by the estimated M6.8 earthquake. The quake took 30 lives and left behind $5.6 million dollars in damage.
