On May 28, State Water Board Member Sean Maguire provided remarks at the Carpinteria Advanced Purification Project groundbreaking.

The new facility will be able to inject up to 1 million gallons of treated wastewater per day into the groundwater basin for future drinking water supplies . It was funded in part by a $39 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan and a $5 million grant from the board’s Water Recycling General Fund.

Septic tanks can leak pollutants into soil and waterways, but wastewater moved through sewer systems is treated before it is released into the environment.

State Water Board member Nichole Morgan joined the Sacramento Area Sewer District Board of Directors this week to celebrate the success of Board-funded projects that move four low-income communities off septic tanks and connect them to sewer services.

I’m proclaiming a state of emergency in Orange County as California continues to respond to the hazardous chemical incident in Garden Grove.

California Governor's Office of Emergency Services has been mobilized for over 24 hours and state agencies are supporting impacted communities to protect public safety, and assist local officials as response efforts continue.
