CCLT is offering a two-part workshop in partnership with GreenInfo Network to provide support for land trusts to further develop their internal GIS capabilities and learn how to include their protected lands in California’s 30x30 initiative, a statewide program to conserve 30 percent of the state's lands and coastal waters by 2030.

Join us on Thursday, August 27, at 10:00 AM for the first workshop, Beginner-Friendly GIS for Land Trusts. This workshop is open to individuals from land trusts with minimal GIS skills to increase their familiarity and learn about core GIS tools. This 60-minute workshop will involve a presentation on the benefits of GIS for land trusts and a short hands-on learning session in QGIS, an open source GIS software package, to start to familiarize participants with GIS capabilities.

The Aging Easements in California Webinar Series, offered in partnership with Land Trust Alliance and CCLT, helps land trusts navigate the challenges of aging conservation easements with technical guidance, legal insights, and peer-informed strategies.

On Thursday, June 18, Executive Director Caroline Godkin joined legislative staff, conservation partners, and the Rominger family for a tour of Rominger Brothers Farms, Inc. in Yolo County to learn more about California's Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation (SALC) Program.

Spending the day on the farm offered a firsthand look at how conservation easements supported by the SALC Program help keep working farms and ranches in production while protecting open space and supporting California's climate goals.

SALC provides funding to permanently protect agricultural lands at risk of development. The program helps keep these lands in agriculture while supporting healthy soils, wildlife habitat, rural economies, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Rominger Brothers Farms is a great example of what can be accomplished when landowners, land trusts, and public agencies work together to conserve California's working lands.

Thank you to the Rominger family for welcoming everyone to the farm, and to all of the partners who made the tour possible. It was a valuable opportunity for legislators and their staff to see firsthand how these partnerships help protect California's agricultural lands for future generations.

🔥 California cannot afford to cut wildfire resilience funding.

💲 Despite increased overall state revenues, the Governor’s May Revise proposes the lowest level of wildfire resilience funding in seven years — even as experts predict an intense fire season and communities across the state face rising wildfire, insurance, and utility costs.

The Wildfire Solutions Coalition is urging the Legislature to:
🔵 Protect the $200 million commitment to wildfire resilience from GGRF
🔵 Increase Prop 4 wildfire investments to $500 million

In Partnerships, Bumps in the Road, & Difficult Conversations on Wednesday, June 10, RCD and land trust partners will provide honest and vulnerable insights about how they maintain durable collaboration for better outcomes on the land. They will highlight how they navigate difficult times, define roles, take and share credit, make mistakes, and move forward. Moderator Sharon Farrell of the The Stewardship Network will share recent research about effective collaboration for landscape scale stewardship.

This is the final session in a four-part webinar series hosted by California Association of Resource Conservation Districts in collaboration with the California Council of Land Trusts.
