🔥 California cannot afford to cut wildfire resilience funding.

💲 Despite increased overall state revenues, the Governor’s May Revise proposes the lowest level of wildfire resilience funding in seven years — even as experts predict an intense fire season and communities across the state face rising wildfire, insurance, and utility costs.

The Wildfire Solutions Coalition is urging the Legislature to:
🔵 Protect the $200 million commitment to wildfire resilience from GGRF
🔵 Increase Prop 4 wildfire investments to $500 million

Building Partnerships Between Land Trusts and Resource Conservation Districts (RCDs) to Implement Nature-Based Solutions that Conserve and Restore California Lands, a four-part series hosted by California Association of Resource Conservation Districts in collaboration with the California Council of Land Trusts, kicks off this Wednesday, April 29!

In this series, participants will learn about RCD and land trust partnerships implementing nature-based solutions for Croplands, Rangelands, and Forested Lands, and explore real-world examples of projects that are multi-benefit, span working and non-working lands, and/or multiple types of working lands.

The California Council of Land Trusts has been on the ground in D.C. this week as part of The Land Trust Alliance Advocacy Days. We have been meeting with over 20 Congressional offices to discuss topics of importance to the California land trust community:

✅️ Farm Bill Funding for Conservation
✅️ Continued support for the Land and Water Conservation Fund
✅️ Opposition to any public land sell off
✅️ Increasing staffing at Federal land management and permitting agencies agencies to support projects on the ground
✅️ Continued support for AmeriCorps funding

Hosted by California Association of Resource Conservation Districts in collaboration with California Council of Land Trusts, Nature-Based Solutions 101 is the first session in a four-part series: Building Partnerships Between Land Trusts and Resource Conservation Districts (RCDs) to Implement Nature-Based Solutions that Conserve and Restore California Lands.

On Wednesday, April 29 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, participants will learn how land trusts and RCDs can advance nature-based solutions together, hear from RCDs who have successfully partnered with land trusts, and discuss projects featuring nature-based solutions, including oak woodland habitat, sediment management, forest health, rangeland management, and more.
