CAPPS has a membership of over three hundred institutions including for-profit, non-profit, religious exempt and approved only Institutions.

The California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS) is the only California State Association representing the many diverse kinds of Private Postsecondary Schools in California. These schools and colleges are Nationally or Regionally accredited or approved by the State of California’s Regulatory Agency, the Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) to offer educational servic

es. CAPPS mission is to ensure that the needs of the entire sector – from small approved schools to large publicly traded institutions – are met from an educational, policy and business perspective. Since 1985 CAPPS has worked with California Governors, the State Legislature, other elected officials and numerous regulatory agencies that provide oversight to the sector. CAPPS offers strong member services in professional development as well as business and educational advice. CAPPS also has a strong public relations campaign that has begun to create a new awareness of the Private Postsecondary Sector in California. From a press conference in the Capitol, to letter writing campaigns on legislation, to inspiring stories about our students and the employers that hire them, CAPPS is spreading the word about the excellent things that our sector is doing.

Robert Johnson has been a steadfast leader as the Executive
Director of the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS) since 1997. He has worked tirelessly with his Board of Directors and membership to represent the Association and the Private Postsecondary Education Sector to Policy Makers and the Public. Johnson has collaborated with Governors, State and Local Legislators, Boards, Commissions, and State regulatory bodies such as the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) on matters related to the Private Postsecondary Education Sector, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the betterment of education in California.

Robert's leadership of the Independent Coalition of Educators Political Action Committee (ICEPAC) and the CAPPS 501(c)3 Foundation inspires member schools to achieve regulatory, accrediting, and legal excellence while empowering them through capacity-building programs.
