A poll last year found that 70% of Bay Area voters in cities using want to keep or expand the reform, and 92% understand well!

Now... If we did a similar poll of Sacramento voters about Sacramento's current election process, do you think that process would get similar results?

Not likely.. considering Sac's current process routinely excludes tens of thousands of voters..

Let's replace Sac's dysfunctional process with Ranked Choice Voting! It's backed by evidence, easily understood, and widely preferred!

A recent FairVote/SurveyUSA poll of voters in California’s Bay Area found that 70% of voters want to keep or expand ranked choice voting.

By adopting , Sacramento could allow candidates to run in the General Election in the Fall, where twice as many people are voting!

This reform will:

✅️ improve equitable representation of all community members,
✅️ allow candidates to engage the whole community instead of narrow entrenched interests,
✅️ empower candidates to gain trust and advance broadly appealing solutions,
✅️ produce election outcomes where voters feel buy-in, and
✅️ SAVE TAXPAYER MONEY by eliminating unnecessary runoff elections!💰

"The Poor People's Campaign, Sacramento strongly supports adopting for Sacramento's local elections!

"Adopting will give greater voice to Sacramento's disadvantaged communities that are currently marginalized by the existing election system.

"We will partner actively with the Better Ballot Sacramento coalition to support this important improvement."

Under Sacramento's current election process, three out of every four races for City Council are decided in the Primary in the Spring, which consistently gets extremely low voter participation..

Sacramentans show up to vote in the Fall but Sac's already crowned a winner in the Spring!

This exclusionary process cuts out tens of thousands of active voters, every cycle!

We propose replacing this inequitable process. By adopting , Sacramento could allow candidates to run in the Fall, where more people are voting & diverse voices can be heard!

(see "Find Your City Council Member" link in comments)

Ask them to place on this November's ballot!

You can call or email their office..

All we're asking is that City Council gives the voters a choice.. Let the voters choose whether to adopt !

Holding 2 elections to make 1 decision is expensive! 💸

Yet Sacramento's current process spends significant taxpayer 💰 on unnecessary runoff elections.

With our City now facing a massive budget deficit, forcing cuts to vital services, could save money for services, by adopting for local elections.

Ranked Choice Voting only needs 1 election to make 1 decision. Imagine that 🙂
