The journey continues. 🚛🇺🇸

The PROJECT 2000 ###VII trucks have officially entered the beautiful state of Utah. As we make our way toward Salt Lake City, we carry more than equipment and supplies—we carry the names, memories, and legacies of the fallen correctional professionals we gather to honor.

Each mile brings us one step closer to standing together in remembrance, support, and service. Thank you to everyone following along on this journey. We can’t wait to welcome our CPOF family to PROJECT 2000 ###VII.

As the trucks roll west and the miles pass beneath us, we carry more than equipment and supplies, we carry the names, stories, and legacies of the five correctional professionals we will honor at PROJECT 2000 ###VII.

Today, we’ve crossed into Nevada on our journey to Salt Lake City, Utah. Each mile brings us closer to standing beside the families, friends, and colleagues of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember:
đź–¤ Correctional Officer Francisco Flattes II
đź–¤ Parole Agent Joshua Byrd
đź–¤ Sergeant Fredrick Coleman, Sr.
đź–¤ Correctional Officer James Jackson
đź–¤ Master Corrections Officer Jeremy Hall

Their service will never be forgotten. Their names will be spoken. Their families will be embraced.

PROJECT 2000 isn’t just a destination, it’s a promise that no correctional family walks alone.

Salt Lake City, we’re on our way. 💙🖤

When tragedy strikes, the corrections family comes together.

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation recently provided catastrophic assistance to Corrections Officer Cheyenne Vire of Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri after a devastating house fire on April 21, 2026, destroyed her home and all of her belongings.

Thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters, CPOF was able to provide assistance during this difficult time and help Officer Vire begin the process of rebuilding.

Every End of Watch represents more than a name, a badge, or a date.

It represents a life dedicated to service, a family forever changed, and a sacrifice that must never be forgotten.

Today, we pause to honor the correctional professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their commitment, courage, and devotion to others continue to inspire us each day.

May we never forget their service, their sacrifice, and the loved ones who carry their legacy forward.

Today, we honor and remember Corrections Officer Gregory Guy Collins of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services on the anniversary of his End of Watch.

On June 4, 2001, Officer Collins was tragically ambushed and murdered while driving home after completing an overtime shift at the Eastern Correctional Institution. He was only 31 years old.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, member of the Maryland National Guard, devoted husband, and father, Officer Collins dedicated his life to service — both to his country and to the corrections profession.

For nearly two decades, his murder remained unsolved until investigators finally identified and convicted the individual responsible in 2021. Though justice was served, the loss felt by his family, friends, and fellow officers can never truly be measured.

Today, we remember Officer Collins’ courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. His legacy continues to live on through those who loved him and through a corrections community that refuses to let his memory fade.

We will never forget Corrections Officer Gregory Guy Collins.

Today, we remember Agriculture Specialist III Michael “Mike” Jensen of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on the 15th anniversary of his passing in the line of duty.

Mike dedicated 22 years of service to TDCJ, serving in multiple units and assignments throughout his career. Known for his strong faith, cowboy spirit, kindness, and dedication to others, Mike left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

On June 2, 2011, Mike suffered a fatal heart attack while conducting a training session involving the care and management of horses at the Wynne Unit — doing the work he loved and mentoring others until the very end.

Fifteen years later, his legacy continues to live on through his family, friends, and fellow correctional professionals who continue to honor his memory.

We invite you to read more about Mike’s life, service, and legacy here: https://cpof.org/line-of-duty-death/honoring-the-legacy-of-agriculture-specialist-iii-michael-a-jensen/

Welcome to June!

Today, many of us flipped our calendars to a new month. At the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, that simple turn of the page serves as a reminder of the lives we touch, the families we support, and the mission that drives us every day.

June is especially meaningful for the CPOF family as we prepare to welcome surviving families, assault survivors, correctional professionals, volunteers, and supporters from across the nation to PROJECT 2000 in Salt Lake City. Together, we will honor sacrifice, celebrate courage, strengthen friendships, and remind one another that no one stands alone.

As we begin this new month, we invite you to take a moment to reflect on those we have lost, those still fighting their battles, and the correctional professionals who continue to serve with dedication and pride every day.

Here's to a month of remembrance, connection, healing, and hope.

đź’™ Thank you for being part of the CPOF family.

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation recently provided a gift of assistance to Eddie King and his family following the tragic loss of Officer Kimberly King.

On April 25, 2026, Officer King was struck by a truck while walking alongside a highway with her grandchild. In a final act of courage and selflessness, Kimberly pushed the child out of the path of the oncoming vehicle, saving the child’s life.

Officer King is remembered for her bravery, sacrifice, and love for her family. She leaves behind her husband, Eddie King, also an employee of the Georgia Department of Corrections, along with countless loved ones and members of the corrections community who continue to mourn her loss.

Through our Catastrophic Assistance Program, CPOF remains committed to standing beside correctional professionals and their families during times of tragedy and hardship.

Please join us in keeping the King family in your thoughts and prayers.
