TO THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO SAY BUILDING A WALL IS IMMORAL:
There is no doubt that Illegal immigration is a challenging issue with well meaning, good people on all sides of the debate. Balancing our nation’s calling to help those in need outside of our borders , with our mandate to protect those within has been a struggle that has gone on for generations. And our failure to properly meet this balance has caused the issue to rise to a crisis level.
As President Trump has clearly and concisely outlined over and over again the present and future threat facing our nation, one cannot help but be reminded of Nehemiah, and the rebuilding of the walls around the City of Jerusalem. He too went before the people and declared a need to take action:
“You know very well what trouble we are in. Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire. Let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and end this disgrace!” – Nehemiah 2:17
Our leaders must come together as the leaders of Nehemiah’s time did to build the wall that would protect their people. As President Trump noted doing so is important, not because we hate those on the outside of those walls; but because we love those on the inside.
For the love of those whom they have been elected to serve, politicians must set aside their petty personal differences and stop their self-promoting grandstanding and follow example set in Jerusalem:
They replied at once, “Yes, let’s rebuild the wall!” So they began the good work. Nehemiah 2:18
People from all walks of life, political persuasions and ideologies came together to build the wall that would protect them for generations to come. It is Now time that we did the same.
