What’s New in Public Works

From intersection improvements to neighborhood traffic calming, here’s a look at some of the Public Works projects underway and coming soon in Rancho Cordova.

🔶Mills Park Drive and Croetto Way Improvements

The city is currently making improvements at the intersection of Mills Park Drive and Croetto Way. Upgrades include new bulb-outs, crosswalk improvements, concrete curbs and gutters, accessible sidewalks, pavement striping, and drainage and visibility enhancements. The project began in Summer 2026 and is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2026.

🔶Neighborhood Traffic Management Project Phase VIII

The city is implementing traffic calming measures on Borderlands Drive and Canyonlands Drive in the Sunridge Park neighborhood. Construction is underway and anticipated to be completed in December 2026. Project improvements will include curb extensions, speed lumps, curb islands, new bicycle lanes, and high-visibility crosswalks. In addition, Borderlands Drive and Canyonlands Drive will be resurfaced.

In addition, this project will implement similar traffic calming measures on White Rock Road, between Mather Field Road and Mills Park Drive in October.

During project construction, residents in the neighborhood will see traffic control in place and “no-parking” signs where parking is restricted. Travel through the area with caution and plan for additional drive time.

🔶Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Cycle 12

The HSIP Cycle 12 Signals project aims to enhance the safety at over 70 signalized intersections citywide. The project will make traffic signals easier to see by adding reflective borders around the signal backplates and upgrading the signal lenses. Construction will begin in Fall 2026.

The project is currently in the design phase, and construction is anticipated to being in Fall 2026.
