POV: You just spotted wildlife on a trail. 👀🐾 These encounters can be exciting, but here are a few reminders for this 🦌✨ to help protect the wildlife we love.

🔭: Observe from a distance. Watch animals from afar to make sure that they have plenty of space.

🚫🥕:  Do not feed wildlife. Human food is not only harmful but can cause animals to become dependent on humans.

🌲: Respect their habitat. Remain on the designated trails and avoid disturbing wildlife and their homes.

If you’re headed outdoors this Labor Day weekend, here are some key safety tips to help you and your loved ones have a safe and enjoyable experience:

🌊Respect the water and always wear a properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket around the water. Call 911 or seek help from a nearby lifeguard during emergencies.

👥Hiking is better together! Always hike with a buddy and remember to bring appropriate supplies, such as a water, sunscreen and appropriate shoes and clothing.

🔥Practice fire safety by never leaving your fires unattended and remembering to extinguish them before leaving. Fires are only allowed in designated areas.

🚫Skip the alcohol and drugs. Check each specific park website to determine if there are local posted orders concerning alcohol.
