This fall/winter BVR Natural Resources staff has been preparing a riparian area for planting its Pollinator and Tribal medicine garden. So far, we have built 10 beds. We used locally collected stones to delineate the beds, we then mixed in compost, planted, then topped with wood chip mulch. Some beds we seeded with native forbs and grasses while others we planted native forbs and shrubs. This site will be tended to become a gathering site and a place for tribal members to pass time.
More photos to come as we continue our next steps of constructing a pathway and installing signs. Many thanks to The Xerces Society for providing the locally sourced and propagated native plants! Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians
