Tuesday's Democracy Reform Town Hall in Sacramento was our best yet! Even in the middle of a crazy election season, it's amazing to see just how many Californians are hungry for real political change and reforms like . We had a full house, and by the end of the town hall 96% of participants said they supported proportional representation in California.

Big thanks to and for co-sponsoring this town hall, and to our support team, Hannah, Cosmo, Gabby, Paula, and Catharine, for making this event possible!

If you're interested in joining a town hall in Sacramento or elsewhere in California, be sure to check our eventbrite page to find an upcoming event near you!

Los Angeles, let’s talk about the future of California's democracy.

What if our elections gave voters more choices, made more votes matter, and produced a legislature that better reflected the people of California?

Join ProRep Coalition for a community town hall exploring proportional representation and other ways we could rethink how Californians elect their state legislators.

This isn’t a lecture or a partisan debate. It’s an interactive conversation where you’ll learn about different electoral systems, discuss the tradeoffs with other Angelenos, and share what you think a better democracy should look like.

Here you can find ProRep Coalition board member, Johanna Epke, giving a kick-ass presentation at the Green Party's annual national convention in Chicago earlier this summer!

If you belong to an organization or party that's PR-curious, let us know! We'd be happy to connect with your team to arrange a time and place for us to share more about PR and how we're pursuing it in California.

The system isn’t working. So let’s change the system.

California’s elections leave too many voters feeling like their choices are limited, their communities aren’t represented, and their vote doesn’t make much of a difference.

offers a structural, evidence-based alternative. One that fosters multiparty representation and breaks us free from our toxic, zero-sum two-party system.

Sacramento, we want to hear from you!

What would a better democracy look like for California?

Join ProRep Coalition, , and for a community town hall exploring how we elect our state legislators—and whether reforms like proportional representation could give Californians more choices, fairer representation, and a stronger voice in government.

This isn’t a lecture or a debate. It’s an interactive conversation where you’ll learn about different electoral systems, discuss the tradeoffs with other community members, and share your own priorities for California’s democracy.

In the spirit of labor day, we highly recommend checking out this recent article from Harvard's Yoorie Chang and Max Kiefel discussing how PR can help build worker power in the US.

"In the latest working paper for the Center for Labor and a Just Economy’s State and Local Labor Policy Series, we explore how PR electoral systems at the state and local levels offer a promising solution to the representational failures that undermine working-class political power in the U.S. By creating conditions for multi-party representation in state legislatures and city councils, PR systems can pave the way for candidates representing working class interests to win seats with less access to traditional campaign resources and open up viability for third parties (including a potential Labor Party) at the state and local levels."
