The only good bomb is a Phil Bomb! So much to be said about Phil. With the flood of stories and interviews in celebration of his life, you realize what a privelge it was to have been alive at the same time as him. Aside from sharing the same cultural melieu, there’s no direct connection between Phil and Allen. Crossing paths in the earliest of years, at one of the acid test parties, no doubt, and as Allen danced on stage as they jammed at the Human be-in, in 1967.
However, rumor has it Phil, at the tender age of 19, went about setting “Howl” to music This would have been the late 50s not long after Howl’s publication. Would love for that to surface! Anyone out there know?
**So we finally found out, it's by Robert Chevalier. (thank you David Lemieux!) ***
“look out of any window.. “
Fare thee well, Phil.
