❄️ WINTER WEATHER UPDATE | January 28 ❄️

We saw significant improvement across Sachse today as conditions continued to thaw. However, refreezing remains a concern overnight, and some surfaces will still be slick, especially in shaded areas and parking lots. While things are moving in the right direction, we are not completely in the clear yet, and residents should continue using caution.

🏛️ CITY FACILITIES UPDATE
City Hall will reopen Thursday, January 29, at 10 a.m.

🚫 Leisure Services facilities will remain closed to the public, including:
• Michael J. Felix Community Center
• Sachse Public Library
• Senior Activity Center
• Animal Shelter

While overall conditions have improved, many parking lots and walkways remain in poor condition, and we do not want to risk injuries to residents. City staff will be on-site working to treat surfaces and prepare facilities for reopening as soon as it is safe to do so. 🧂

🚛 CWD SERVICE UPDATE
CWD has issued a revised collection plan:

• Thursday–Friday scheduled trash and recycling routes will be collected this week on their regular pickup day.
• Homes normally serviced Monday–Wednesday will be collected next week on their regular pickup day. To help accommodate the missed service, residents may place up to four (4) 13-gallon bags or two (2) 30-gallon bags next to their trash cart. Please avoid overfilling the cart.

Collections may occur later than usual as crews navigate road conditions and landfill delays. Residents are asked to leave materials at the curb until collected, remove snow and ice from carts, and ensure lids are not frozen shut. If materials are not collected, residents should contact CWD if service is not completed by the following day.

CWD will resume cart deliveries Thursday through Saturday. Deliveries originally scheduled for Monday–Wednesday will be completed on the next scheduled delivery day next week.

⚠️ CONTINUED CAUTION
While roads and main travel routes have improved significantly, refreezing overnight and lingering ice in parking lots, sidewalks, and shaded areas will continue to create hazards. Please use caution, watch your footing, and allow extra time if you need to be out.

The City will continue monitoring conditions and share updates through official communication channels as conditions change.

❄️ WINTER WEATHER UPDATE | January 26 ❄️

Although the sun is out today, conditions across Sachse remain hazardous. The sun is melting the top layer of snow and ice, creating slick surfaces and increasing the risk of refreezing in many areas. Things may look better at a glance, but conditions remain unsafe. If you’re spending time outside or letting kids play in the snow, please use extra caution, as icy surfaces can be very slippery. Residents are strongly urged to continue staying home and avoiding unnecessary travel.

🏛️ CITY FACILITY CLOSURES
Administrative and Leisure Services facilities will be closed tomorrow, January 27, due to unsafe road conditions. This includes:
• City Hall
• Michael J. Felix Community Center
• Sachse Public Library
• Senior Activity Center
• Animal Shelter

Animal Services will remain on call for emergencies and to ensure the animals in the shelter are cared for.

🚛 CWD SERVICE UPDATE
The City has been notified by CWD that all services scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, are canceled due to unsafe road conditions. CWD is developing a recovery plan and will share more information as soon as it is available.

🚧 ROAD CONDITIONS
Many roadways in Sachse remain covered with hard-packed snow and ice. In many areas, the sun has melted the top layer, creating a slick, icy surface that is even more dangerous than before. Roads may look improved, but they are still extremely slippery, especially on bridges, overpasses, shaded areas, and neighborhood streets. If you must drive, slow down, increase your following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.

❄️ LOOKING AHEAD
Road conditions are expected to remain impacted through tonight, and refreezing will continue to be a major concern overnight, likely affecting the Tuesday morning commute. Even where melting occurs today, conditions may worsen again overnight. The safest option is to stay home if you can and delay travel until conditions improve.

We will be closed Monday January 26th.

❄️ WINTER WEATHER UPDATE | January 25 ❄️

Wintry precipitation fell across the area from Saturday into early this morning, adding to existing ice and creating slick road conditions throughout Sachse. While precipitation is tapering off, temperatures remain well below freezing and travel conditions remain impacted.

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid travel today unless absolutely necessary.

🚛 CWD SERVICE UPDATE
The City has been notified by CWD that all services scheduled for January 26 are canceled due to unsafe road conditions. They will continue to monitor conditions and will communicate a recovery plan once they have a better understanding of when operations can safely resume.

🚧 ROAD CONDITIONS
Many roadways in Sachse are hard-packed with ice and snow and remain slick. The compacted ice and snow are what’s making travel unsafe, and cold temperatures mean improvement will be slow.

If you must drive, please do so cautiously: slow down, increase your following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns. Use extra caution on bridges and overpasses.

❄️ LOOKING AHEAD
Road conditions are expected to remain impacted into Monday, and the Monday commutes will be affected by lingering ice and snow on roadways. Even as conditions slowly improve, refreezing will continue to be an issue Monday night and could impact the Tuesday morning commute as well. The safest option is to stay home if you can and delay travel until conditions improve.
