Due to weather conditions, we will be CLOSED Tuesday, January 27.
❄️ WINTER WEATHER UPDATE | January 26 ❄️
Although the sun is out today, conditions across Sachse remain hazardous. The sun is melting the top layer of snow and ice, creating slick surfaces and increasing the risk of refreezing in many areas. Things may look better at a glance, but conditions remain unsafe. If you’re spending time outside or letting kids play in the snow, please use extra caution, as icy surfaces can be very slippery. Residents are strongly urged to continue staying home and avoiding unnecessary travel.
🏛️ CITY FACILITY CLOSURES
Administrative and Leisure Services facilities will be closed tomorrow, January 27, due to unsafe road conditions. This includes:
• City Hall
• Michael J. Felix Community Center
• Sachse Public Library
• Senior Activity Center
• Animal Shelter
Animal Services will remain on call for emergencies and to ensure the animals in the shelter are cared for.
🚛 CWD SERVICE UPDATE
The City has been notified by CWD that all services scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, are canceled due to unsafe road conditions. CWD is developing a recovery plan and will share more information as soon as it is available.
🚧 ROAD CONDITIONS
Many roadways in Sachse remain covered with hard-packed snow and ice. In many areas, the sun has melted the top layer, creating a slick, icy surface that is even more dangerous than before. Roads may look improved, but they are still extremely slippery, especially on bridges, overpasses, shaded areas, and neighborhood streets. If you must drive, slow down, increase your following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns.
❄️ LOOKING AHEAD
Road conditions are expected to remain impacted through tonight, and refreezing will continue to be a major concern overnight, likely affecting the Tuesday morning commute. Even where melting occurs today, conditions may worsen again overnight. The safest option is to stay home if you can and delay travel until conditions improve.
