Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, we pause to remember the lives lost on that tragic day, honor the heroes who responded with extraordinary courage, and reflect on the unity that brought our nation together in the days that followed.

May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and the strength of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable loss.

🎉 Celebrating the Future at Marple Education Center!

DCIU celebrated the major expansion and renovation of the Marple Education Center with a ribbon cutting and tours of the newly renovated and expanded spaces.

This significant investment will help DCIU continue meeting the growing needs of young children, students requiring specialized supports, and future healthcare professionals throughout Delaware County.

The expanded facility features additional Early Intervention classrooms and therapy spaces, four new School Age classrooms, a new playground, an innovative Transition Support Lab, and expanded space for DCIU’s Practical Nursing Program, including additional classrooms and a simulation lab.

A special thank you to the DCIU Board members, superintendents and school board members from across the county, Marple Township Commissioners, Marple Township Police, Broomall Fire Department, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Senator Tim Kearney, as well as our many community and educational partners who celebrated with us. 💙💚

Supporting Educators, Strengthening Readers 📚

To launch the school year with a strong focus on literacy, DCIU’s Wilson Credentialed Trainer (WCT), Dee Lippincott, welcomed teachers to a three-day Introduction to the Wilson Reading System (WRS) course.

Educators explored a multisensory, structured literacy approach designed to explicitly teach decoding, encoding, and spelling while building practical tools and confidence to support students as readers.

The three-day course also serves as the official prerequisite for the yearlong WRS Level I Certification.

Looking ahead to 2026–27, DCIU is excited to partner with Wallingford-Swarthmore School District to support a cohort of teachers who participated in the introductory course as they continue their journey toward WRS Level I Certification.

This partnership represents a meaningful investment in educators and in building deep, sustainable instructional capacity to strengthen literacy outcomes for students.
