Village of Rutland

Village of Rutland The Village of Rutland is a statutory Village in Meigs County, Ohio, incorporated in 1913. A Welcome from the Mayor

Welcome to the Village of Rutland!

Founded in 1799 and incorporated in 1913, the Village of Rutland has stood as a small, bucolic community in Meigs County, Ohio for over 220 years, situated a very short commute from the county seat resting along the majestic Ohio River. The home of the Red Devil dynasty, Rutland was settled by natives from Rutland, Massachusetts and Rutland, Vermont with a history rich in agriculture and livestock

, coal mining and railroading. Today, with its annual Independence Day Ox-Roast where everyone can enjoy Rutland's Famous Roast Beef along with the best fireworks display in the County, beautiful Jim Vennari Park, quiet streets, rural scenery, small hometown businesses, along with nearby state-of-the-art schools, healthcare facilities and diverse industry, the community nestled in the peaceful rolling hills of southeast Ohio is prime for raising a family and enjoying the small American town feel. In the Village of Rutland, your public officials are striving for excellence in community and municipal leadership. In despite of our community's unique challenges, I'm confident that in uniting together, our potentials are plentiful and our future is bright. As Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." The many valued citizens of Rutland are encouraged to visit the Rutland Civic Center and Village Hall and share with us their concerns and visions of our fine community. Likewise, everyone is urged to get involved in our town events and meetings. The concerns and visions of our residents and stakeholders for the success of the Village of Rutland deserve full attention; are important, worthy and useful. Let us continue to move forward with ambition and optimism and most importantly, let us transform Rutland into the model small American community of the twenty-first century. Yours in service,

Tyler M. Eblin, Mayor
Village of Rutland

Those traveling in the Village of Rutland may have observed curb vegetation removal along Salem Street. Increased personnel is the result of community service ordered by the Rutland Mayor’s Court, which allows the Village to expand its resources, while also providing a pathway to resolve court fines and costs for offenders.

The Rutland Department of Public Service will continue curb cleaning operations in the Village of Rutland in the weeks forthcoming in preparation for the annual .

The Ohio Department of Transportation, upon request by Village Street Commissioner Shane Gann, conducted a stormwater sewer jet and vacuum operation along Salem Street to identify occlusions or collapsed drains, following continued incidents of street surface flooding.

ODOT and the Village Street Commissioner’s Office will jointly prepare a plan for repair, based upon the findings made during today’s operation, and subject to available funding.

Mayor Eblin extends his appreciation to ODOT District 10 Deputy Director Rich Oster and the ODOT team for their continued assistance to the Village of Rutland.

The Village of Rutland yesterday welcomed home nearly 150 alumni of Rutland High School during the 97th Annual Rutland High School Alumni Reunion held at Rutland Civic Center.

Beautiful crimson and black adorned the Rutland Gymnasium as the Rutland High School Alumni Steering Committee worked diligently to reignite the pride of the Rutland Red Devils.

Classes honored included the Class of 1951 (75 years), Class of 1956 (70 years), Class of 1961 (65 years) and the Class of 1966 (60 years). Mayor Tyler M. Eblin and the Village of Rutland extends a sincere congratulations to each of those alumni for their anniversaries.

A special thank you is extended to Rose Mary Eskew and Denise Lambert of Pomeroy Flower Shop for assisting with the floral arrangements necessary for a breathtaking event.

Until we meet again next year, the Village of Rutland wishes our Rutland Alumni the very best in good health, prosperity, friendship and love.
