Tuesday, February 3rd, the Rutherford County Courthouse will open at 11am. District and Superior Court will begin at 11:30am. Jurors will be needed at 1:00pm. Traffic Court cases from February 2nd at 1:30pm, will all be continued to April 10th at 1:30 pm.

All Judicial Staff Offices inside the courthouse will open at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 28th.
District Court will begin at 11:30 am
Superior Court will begin at 12:30 pm

All Traffic Court cases from Monday, January 26th, will be continued to FRIDAY, February 27th at 1:30 pm.

The Rutherford Courthouse will be closed Monday, January 26th. District and Traffic Court case will be continued. This Superior Court Trial term will resume when weather permits.

Please share... No online services are available now to October 13th, 2025. We can not accept credit card payments in person as well. After Wednesday the 8th, our cashiers will be writing hand written receipts. There will be no district court Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. For the next few weeks the entire judicial staff will be learning the new system. Courts WILL go slower. We appreciate everyone's patience.

Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding as our staff are in the midst of training and practice courts. Our go live date is October 13, 2025. One date that we want the public to be aware of is October 1st at 5:00 pm. We will not be able to accept credit card payments in person or accept online payments. These services will be restored after our go live date. We have numerous signs posted throughout the courthouse with information. Additional information will be posted here as well.

eCourts goes live one month from today on Monday, October 13 in the Track 10 counties of Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Davidson, Davie, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, McDowell, Rowan, and Rutherford. With Track 10 coming online, all 100 North Carolina counties will be fully digital.

You can check your court date online, pay traffic tickets that your appearance may be waived for and pay some probation fees and court cost at NCCOURTS.GOV. (the clerks office can not offer technical support for the NCCOURTS.GOV website) Pro Se Litigants and attorneys may use the guide and file that is now available at NCCOURTS.GOV for filings in Rutherford County.

LATER:
Rutherford County will be going live on the new state wide Integrated Case Management System on October 13th, 2025 along with 12 other counties. This new system will make certain court documents available for the public to pull up online using the state wide Portal for cases filed after October 13th, 2025. After this date attorneys must file all court filings through the eFile Portal. Pro Se Litigants will also be able to file through Portal.

BEWARE OF POTENTIAL SCAM

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office would like to make aware the citizens of Rutherford County of a potential scam that is being sent. Multiple citizens have reported receiving a text message of a "Toll Roads Notice." The message states that you have an unpaid toll where your vehicle passed through a toll road. It goes on to say you have a certain amount of time to pay the fine or they will contact DMV. They provide a link to click on and pay the "alleged fine."

If you have actually been through a toll road, you will normally receive a notice in the mail showing your tag and or vehicle going through the toll road and state where the toll road was. Please ensure before you pay any type of toll road fee that you actually traveled through a toll road and that the place you are paying the fine is a legitimate website.
