Extreme heat is sweeping over parts of the country in the coming days.

The inside of a car can reach deadly temperatures in minutes. Keep kids safe β€” NEVER leave them alone in a vehicle. πŸ‘ΆπŸŒ‘οΈ

You've no doubt seen all the scary pictures about an area of low pressure expected to move into the southern gulf late this week into this weekend. The reality is this disturbance is not expected to develop into anything organized before moving into eastern Mexico.

Because it is an area of low pressure, some of the energy with it (along with a very weak "cold" front) will likely produce higher rain chances across our area early next week. ~ Donald Jones

This map shows the coverage area for 232-Help/Louisiana 211, and if you look below and expand the picture, you will see why our services are so necessary. In many of our parishes, half or more of the people living there are either living below the poverty line or considered part of the ALICE population - Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed - meaning they are one major incident - a prolonged illness, car trouble, emergency home repairs - away from a financial crisis.

Now more than ever, our neighbors in Acadiana and statewide are relying on 232-Help and 211 to connect them with vital resources to help them get by. We are proud to be a part of the solution for many of our callers, but as a small nonprofit it can be hard to keep up with the demand.

If you would like to make a contribution to an organization that is helping hundreds of your neighbors each week, consider making a donation here: https://www.232-help.org/232donate

Good morning,

Another round of heavy rain is expected today with a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for flash flooding across central Louisiana and parts of southeast Texas. As we move into next week rain chances will drop off but temperatures will rise into the 90s.
