While our page was on hiatus, the Ruston Police Department received the Lexipol Bronze Award, as part of a program that has recognized over 1,300 agencies for excellence in policy and training management. The Lexipol Connect program annually recognizes public safety agencies that excel at implementing, disseminating, acknowledging, and training on policies. Prior to using the Lexipol Policy Manual program, Ruston Police's policy manual had not been updated for several years and is the first time the police department has received a national award. The Ruston Police Department has been actively working toward national accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) since 2023.

These comments can be in the form of commendation or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide our agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster our pursuit of professional excellence. It is important to know that CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgement to submissions; however, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA Accreditation.
