Russia FD had a very close working relationship with Chief Pearson, he will be greatly missed by the entire fire family in Darke, Shelby and the surrounding areas.

Darke - Versailles Fire Department - Station 19 - Our thoughts are with the members of Station 19 and the Versailles community in the passing of Chief Brian Pearson - Unit 1981

Brian was Chief of Versailles Fire & EMS with 27 years of service. He served as President of Heritage Park Board in Versailles and 2015 Chairman of Versailles Poultry Days. Brian was a member of the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association, TASKS, Inc., and the Versailles Alumni Association.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Oakland Church of the Brethren 8058 Horatio-Harris Creek Rd. in Bradford with Pastor/FD Chaplain David Wilson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Station 19 Firefighters or Heritage Park.

Happy 66th birthday to long time FD member Bob Simon! Bob has over 43 years on the Russia FD.

This week several Russia fire fighters attended a training offered by the Ohio Fire Academy. They learned about fire behavior in the Academy’s Flashover Trailer where temperatures reach over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
