Today, we pause to honor every man and woman who has worn our nation’s uniform — from those who served generations ago to the Soldiers who stand ready today.

To our brothers and sisters of the 1st Battalion, 206th Field Artillery — past and present — we are proud to carry your legacy. From the muddy fields and frozen hills of history to the training areas and deployments of today, your courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty continue to define what it means to be an Aleutian.

Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar — it is a reminder of the countless sacrifices that safeguard our freedom. Many have missed birthdays, holidays, and milestones with loved ones. Others have carried the unseen weight of war long after returning home. And some made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives so that others might live free.

We honor them all — those who came before us, those who stand among us, and those who will one day follow in our footsteps.

As we reflect on their service, we are reminded that freedom is not free. It is earned every day by the selfless men and women who answer the call to serve.

Once an Aleutian, always an Aleutian.
Thank you to all who have served — past, present, and future.

On June 13th, Alpha Battery, 1-206th Field Artillery held a Change of Responsibility Ceremony to mark the transition of leadership within its senior enlisted ranks. During the ceremony, 1SG Nicklas Smith officially assumed the role of First Sergeant for Alpha Battery. This time-honored tradition symbolizes the continuity of leadership and the commitment to excellence within the unit. We thank 1SG Smith for stepping into this vital role and look forward to his leadership in the months ahead. Congratulations, First Sergeant!

We also want to recognize SFC Nicholas Todd, who stepped into the role of acting First Sergeant a year ago and performed well above his pay grade. Throughout his time in the position, he led Alpha Battery with integrity, care, and unwavering professionalism. His presence left a powerful and lasting impact on the unit, and his Soldiers will truly miss him. We thank SFC Todd for his exceptional service and leadership during this critical time.

Today, the 1-206th Field Artillery Regiment conducted our formal Change of Responsibility. The Aleutians bid a fond farewell to CSM Heffner and wish him the best in his retirement. We welcome in 1SG (P) George and look forward to our continued growth with him. Never Give Up.
