Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Chief Tom Ackley’s family, friends and the Blandford Fire Department during this difficult time.

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Ackley. Ackley served the town of Blandford for over 6 decades on the fire department. In addition of highway superintendent, Hilltown community ambulance and member of select board. His love and dedication to the town of Blandford will always be unmatched. His legacy will forever be etched in the history of the Hilltowns communities.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻, 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗠𝗥 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Every three years, fire departments must recertify responders under Massachusetts General Law, and this training allows our departments to work side-by-side while strengthening regional cooperation.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲.
