The SouthShore Regional Library will begin its renovations on June 1. The library will be opening at 12 p.m. on June 1 with limited services and collections during the renovation.

Explore and honor Japanese culture through an ancient Japanese art form, taiko. In this interactive program with Tampa Taiko, students respond to, describe, interpret, and evaluate music as performers and listeners.

The program will start at 11 a.m. at the SouthShore Regional Library on Saturday, May 30.

Recommended for children ages 6-12.

Space is limited for this program. Tickets will be available at the marked service point 30 minutes before the start of the program.

Funded by the Friends of the SouthShore Regional Library.

On this day in 2006, the SouthShore Regional Library held its grand opening and dedication ceremony. The library opened as a 40,000-sq. ft facility that offered many community meeting rooms, internet access, a Genealogy Center, and a Children’s Library decorated with Florida wildlife.

This aerial photograph shows just how big a branch it is - currently the largest branch of the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library, in fact!
