CITY OF RUSK – CITY COUNCIL MEETING NOTICE

The City expects a large attendance at tonight’s City Council meeting due to the swearing-in ceremony and other agenda items.

Please be advised:
• Seating inside Council Chambers is limited due to fire code occupancy requirements.
• An outdoor overflow listening area with live audio will be available.
• Speaker cards will be available for anyone wishing to address the Council.
• Parking and traffic near City Hall may be heavier than normal.
• Please arrive early if possible.

The unofficial results for the Rusk City Council – District 5 election are in.

🗳️ Final Vote Count (Unofficial):
• Chucky Pate – 83 votes
• Frances Long – 58 votes

An update from the Southern Pine Crew!

Rusk ISD campuses are currently in a secure lockout due to a reported threat at one of the campuses. At this time, no one is being allowed into the buildings. We are actively working with assisting agencies and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

At this time all Rusk ISD campuses are in SECURE Lockout due to a threat that was made to one of our campuses. We are not allowing anyone in or out of the buildings at this time. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. At this time, all students and staff are safe, and we are working closely with local law enforcement as they assess the situation. We will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and support.

On April 9th, something truly special was recognized in our community.

After Winter Storm Fern caused significant damage to Jim Hogg Park earlier this year, a group of dedicated volunteers stepped up without hesitation. Through their time, hard work, and selfless service, they helped restore the park—bringing it back even better for the people of Rusk to enjoy.

The City of Rusk officially honored these efforts with a proclamation, recognizing Pastor Jeremy Driver, Josh Morrison, Craig Ballew, and the committed members of the Covenant Church Men’s Group for their incredible contribution.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Public Works team and city crews for their continued hard work and dedication behind the scenes. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and our community is stronger because of you.

This is what community looks like—people coming together, serving with heart, and making a lasting impact. We are grateful, proud, and inspired by this act of service.
