I wanted to share that Friday, April 3rd will be my last Tot Time, and the program will be on hold until we can find a new volunteer to lead it. Anyone interested in running Tot Time is encouraged to reach out to Parks Director Kathi Jackley at [email protected]

Running Tot Time through the City of Rushville Parks Department has been one of the greatest blessings of my life—and one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to step away from.

As many of you know, I will be starting a new chapter as the Executive Director of the Rush County Chamber of Commerce, and my own children are growing fast and are no longer "tots". While I am incredibly excited for what’s ahead, it comes with the bittersweet reality that my time leading Tot Time is coming to an end.

Tot Time has never just been a program to me. It has been a place where I’ve watched moms, dads, grandparents, and caregivers walk in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and sometimes alone—and leave with friendships, support, and a sense of belonging. It’s where I found my own village. It’s where so many of us realized we weren’t doing this alone.

Watching your children grow—taking their first steps, making their first friends, learning how to share, laugh, and just be little—has been nothing short of magical. Being trusted to help create a safe, joyful, and welcoming space for your families is something I will carry with me forever.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Kathi Jackley for trusting me with this program. To Becky Bosse and Kaitlin Maples—thank you for pouring your hearts into Tot Time alongside me and helping shape it into what it is today. And to every organization, volunteer, and community member who donated toys, time, resources, or support along the way—this program exists because of you.

This isn’t just a goodbye—it’s also a call to our community. Tot Time is too special to let fade away. If you have ever loved this program, believed in it, or benefited from it, I encourage you to consider stepping into this role or reaching out to learn more. It is a volunteer commitment of about four hours a week, but what you get in return is something truly meaningful.

Thank you for trusting me with your children, your stories, and your friendships. Tot Time will always hold a piece of my heart.
With so much love and gratitude,
Amanda Harris
