This Friday, June 19th, the Smiley Avenue Disposal Site will be closed for Juneteenth. It will reopen on Saturday, June 20th, at 8:00am.

***Closure Update*** The current transfer station at Smiley Avenue WILL NOT be closing next week. The recent rain has delayed the contractor at least one week but possibly longer. Follow the City page and Clean Green Rush for more updates. We will post updates when we have a definite start date.

Reminder, the closure of the current site will be temporary while infrastructure work takes place along VanSickle St and McFarland St.

Exciting changes are coming to Rushville!

Site work for the new Transfer Station is scheduled to begin the week of June 15.

Please be aware that temporary street closures may occur during construction. The current Transfer Station will be CLOSED during the week of June 15 and, while work is underway, will only be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The goal is to have the current transfer station temporarily closed for only a few weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The tentative plan is for the new Transfer Station to open by Earth Day 2027.

The Smiley Avenue Disposal site will be closed this Saturday, May 23rd, and next Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00am. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

This Saturday, May 2nd, is Tox-Away Day! One of the many items we accept are butane lighters. Don't throw in the trash-Bring to Tox-Away Day! Hours are 8am-Noon.

What a great Earth Day! A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of the Rush County Solid Waste Management District Transfer Station! The location will provide all residents a place to safely dispose of general waste and recycle materials. It will be located at 185 S McFarland St.-a site that is being repurposed and perfect for a transfer station! Reduce-Reuse-Recycle!
