Smiley Avenue Transfer Station and Recycling Center will only be open on Saturdays during parts of this construction. Please stay up to date through City of Rushville page.

Exciting changes are coming to Rushville!

Site work for the new Transfer Station is scheduled to begin the week of June 15.

Please be aware that temporary street closures may occur during construction. The current Transfer Station will be CLOSED during the week of June 15 and, while work is underway, will only be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The goal is to have the current transfer station temporarily closed for only a few weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The tentative plan is for the new Transfer Station to open by Earth Day 2027.

The main entrance of the Rushville Police Department is under construction as we have new concrete poured to create the groundwork for a future law enforcement memorial. An updated, safer walkway is the first step in this process.

Due to the construction, the main entrance of the building is out of service from Monday May 11, 2026 to Friday May 15, 2026. Anyone who needs to conduct business at the Rushville Police Department is encouraged to call first at (765)932-3907. If a personal visit is necessary, further instructions can be provided on how to access the property during your call. We are also always more than happy to come to you. As always, in an emergency, dial 911.

If you notice a pothole, damaged sign, traffic signal issue, roadway concern, or other problem on a state road, INDOT makes it easy to report it. INDOT may not be aware of the issue and your input is taken seriously.

Citizens can submit concerns directly to INDOT online at INDOT4U.com or by calling 855-INDOT4U. Reporting issues helps improve safety and allows concerns to be addressed more quickly across Indiana’s transportation system.

W 5th STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Dave O'Mara contractor will be closing W 5th Street Monday for street reconstruction.

W 5th will be closed from Sexton Street west.
N Arthur and N Sexton will also be closed at 5th Street.

This project is expected to take 2-3 months.

For those of you that live in this area. O'Mara employees will be in communication with you on when and how you will have access to park in the construction zone.
