Traveller was having a little trouble living up to his name in the icy conditions yesterday, but some of our members were able to help him get back on his feet and mosey along.

As you can imagine, this has been a busy week. It seems like every department in the area has had to help out every other department in the area at least once. Thankfully, the first responders around here know the importance of community.

Whether it's assistance in an emergency, support in a tragedy, or edification in a classroom, the cooperation between local departments is what keeps us safe.

Thank you to the Grayson Fire Department and everyone else who had a hand in todays training.

And a big thanks to all the area first responders for their hard work this week and every week.

Our Thursday nights are usually spent training, doing maintenance, and taking care of all the little things that keep us ready to keep you safe, but tonight we had a rare chance to kick back and relax with our familes and friends.

We had dinner for our firefighters and boardmembers and their families, and were able to provide some Christmas gifts to show our firefighters some appreciation for all their hard work this year.

We want to thank everyone who was involved with this evening, and wish a Merry Christmas to all!

We have once again partnered with our Dollar General in Rush and are holding a toy drive to help more local kids have a great Christmas. If you're able, buy an extra toy next time you're out and leave it in the bin at DG. We'll be taking donations until December 8th.

Saturday's Chili Cook-off was a big success! Harold Middleton took the top prize, followed by Daniel Thacker finishing in second and Don Voiers claiming third. Corey Griffith received the People's Choice award.

We'd like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved with our cook-off. Whether you competed or just dropped by, your presence helped make this a success and that success will help several children have a better Christmas this year.

We'd especially like to acknowledge Mudslinger’s Country Store for hosting the event and providing prize support, as well as John and Michelle from Star Country Market for judging our contest and providing gift cards. Our home is blessed with businesses that care about the community and the people in it.
