On Saturday, October 4th, Fire Wise Running Springs volunteers — alongside members of the Running Springs Fire Department and Firefighters’ Union — came together to assist local residents with fire prevention efforts by collecting and removing property abatement bags.

This community effort plays a vital role in keeping our mountain safe and fire-ready. We couldn’t have done it without the hard work of our volunteers and the generous sponsorship of Village Market & U-Haul, and Mountain Disposal.

Together, we’re building a safer, more resilient Running Springs.

Residents of Running Springs may notice drift smoke in the area today. This smoke is not from a local fire, but rather from the Gifford Fire burning in the Los Padres National Forest.

Winds are pushing smoke into our region, and while visibility and air quality may be temporarily impacted, there is no immediate threat to our community.

Individuals with respiratory issues may want to limit outdoor activity during periods of dense smoke.

We are actively monitoring conditions. As always, please report any signs of fire or smoke that appear unusual or close to structures.

Stay safe, stay informed — and thank you for helping keep Running Springs fire-safe.

Today, members of the Running Springs Fire Department attended the Celebration of Life for Mike Terry — a deeply respected member of our community.

Mike was a longtime resident of Running Springs, a dedicated board member of the Running Springs Water District, and a retired Battalion Chief with the San Gabriel Fire Department.

His lifetime of service to both the fire profession and the Running Springs community left an indelible mark. He was not only a leader but a neighbor, a mentor, and a friend to many.

We were honored to stand in uniform to pay tribute to a man who spent his life serving others.

Additionally, we would like thank the San Manuel Fire Department for covering the district while we paid our respects.

While they were on assignment, the Running Springs Fire Department remained fully staffed, continuing to provide outstanding service to our community.

We’re incredibly grateful for their hard work, dedication, and the strong partnerships that make this vital mutual aid possible.
