🚨 WANTED: YOUR FRIENDS, SPOUSE, NEIGHBORS, AND CO-WORKERS! 🚨

Ever wanted to see someone spend a little time behind bars?

Now’s your chance! 😆

At this year’s Freedom Fest, our volunteers will be operating the Freedom Fest Fireworks Jail to help raise money for the annual fireworks show.

Have a husband who leaves dishes in the sink? A friend who’s always late? A co-worker who steals your snacks? Nominate them for “arrest” and help support a great cause while having some laughs.

💥 All proceeds benefit the Freedom Fest fireworks show.

🚧 HIGHWAY 380 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚧

Heads up, Runaway Bay — TXDOT is scheduled to begin a major pavement rehabilitation project along Highway 380 tomorrow May 26.

The project will begin near Hastings Drive and continue east past the bridge toward Bridgeport. Work will be completed in roughly one-mile sections at a time, with crews starting near Hastings and gradually moving eastward through the project area.

As part of the rehabilitation process, crews will remove approximately 4 inches of existing pavement before resurfacing the roadway.

⚠️ What to Expect:
• Temporary stop lights
• Lane closures and reduced speeds
• Delays of approximately 10 minutes
• Construction zones shifting as sections are completed

This is expected to be a long-term project lasting several months, so we wanted to give residents advance notice now so everyone can plan ahead accordingly.

TXDOT also advised that no work is currently planned on the bridge itself as part of this project.

Please use caution in work zones, watch for crews and equipment, and allow extra travel time once construction begins.

We’ll continue sharing updates as we receive them from TXDOT.

🏅 Three of Runaway Bay’s finest were recognized Tuesday night for their service and leadership following the April 25 tornado response.

Officers Nick Hall, Rob Powell, and James Gates were honored with recognition from Senator Tan Parker for their efforts during one of the most difficult moments our community has faced.

Police work goes far beyond traffic stops and patrols. Sometimes it means long nights, disaster response, and doing whatever needs to be done. These officers answered the call when Runaway Bay needed them most.

🚔 Small-town policing means wearing a lot of hats…

In the month of March, Runaway Bay officers:

▪️ patrolled approximately 3,800 miles
▪️ responded to around 300 calls
▪️ conducted approximately 1,200 security checks
▪️ handled assists, traffic stops, crashes, and more

And yes… Officer Rob Powell presented this activity report at April’s City Council meeting.

Ironically, he somehow managed to miss the group photo. 😂

(We’ll get him next time.)

These guys spend long hours helping keep Runaway Bay one of the safest small towns around, and most of that work happens quietly behind the scenes.

Reminder: City Council Meeting tonight at 6pm at the Civic Center.

Small town. Big responsibility. 🇺🇸

🚔🇺🇸 SMALL TOWNS SHOW UP FOR EACH OTHER 🇺🇸🚒

This free community event honors the people who answer the call and help keep our community safe.

We also want to shine a spotlight on the President of the Greater Runaway Bay Alliance, Cindy Fuller, for the incredible work she continues to do behind the scenes for this community.

After the tornado, when many people had understandably returned to work and normal routines, Cindy was still there. Day after day, for weeks at the Runaway Bay Event Center, helping residents navigate recovery resources and assistance programs.

That kind of dedication doesn’t always make headlines, but in a small town… people remember it. 🇺🇸

We’re proud to stand alongside organizations and volunteers who continue showing up for Runaway Bay when it matters most.

So join us Saturday, May 30 from 4–7 PM at Cricket Ridge Park for the Hometown Hero Celebration hosted by the Greater Runaway Bay Alliance.

Come out, meet your local first responders, support the community, and enjoy a great evening together.

Expect:
🌭 BBQ & hot dogs
🎶 Music
🏰 Bounce houses
❄️ Snow cones
🎯 Co****le
🪑 Lawn chairs encouraged!
