The new food pantry at Nathan Bishop Middle School provides students and families with greater access to nutritious food in spaces they know and trust.

With school-based food pantries throughout Providence, schools across our community can continue serving as important hubs of support that help strengthen the well-being of students and families every day.

Thank you to our dedicated partners, supporters, and community members, including Gil's Appliances, Rhode Island Department of Education - RIDE, and CVS Health.

Recently, our team joined community members at Roger Williams Middle School to celebrate an important milestone for Providence students and families.

The ribbon-cutting event marked the continued expansion of our Feed the Future school pantries across Providence and a shared commitment to making healthy, reliable food more accessible for local students.

We’re grateful to our incredible partners at Gil's Appliances, Rhode Island Department of Education - RIDE, and CVS Health for helping make this possible and for their continued commitment to supporting Rhode Island families.

World Hunger Day is a reminder that food insecurity isn’t a distant issue, it’s happening right here in Rhode Island. In the last 12 months, 44% of households in our state experienced food insecurity.

That means nearly half of our neighbors, coworkers, friends, and families have faced uncertainty about where their next meal would come from.

Food insecurity is not just about hunger. It’s about stability, health, and opportunity. Supporting local food programs, reducing waste, and strengthening community resources all play a role in making sure everyone in Rhode Island has access.

A sweet delivery for an even sweeter cause! 🍪💛

Thanks to our friends at Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England, we were able to drop off cookies and milk to our friends at Ronald McDonald House New England. A “home away from home,” providing families with seriously ill or injured children a place to stay, along with meals and support, so they can focus on being together during difficult times.

The answer is… spinach! 🥬

Spinach contains more magnesium than kale, making it a stronger source of this important nutrient that supports energy, muscle function, and overall health.

Access to nutrient-rich foods plays a key role in fighting food insecurity and hunger. When families have reliable access to foods like leafy greens, beans, whole grains, and other fresh ingredients, it supports not just full stomachs, but stronger long-term health and well-being.

Knowledge about foods like spinach and kale is just one part of building a healthier community.
