Our Parks team has reviewed the upcoming weather reports and the potential for rain/lighting/thunder is great enough that we don't feel today is a safe weather day to proceed with this event.
We are disappointed to have to make this announcement but keep an eye on our page for a future announcement of a reschedule date later in the summer when conditions are better suited for a safe and enjoyable event.

As summer quickly approaches we're working hard to complete all of our 2026 park projects! The new pavilion at City Lake Park is fully complete and includes tables and interior lights, the shade structures over the seating at the Walker-Hawk Splash Pad are installed and will be a great benefit during the upcoming summer months, and our brand new Walker-Hawk Sports Complex Playground will be complete as soon as conditions are dry enough to bring in the equipment needed to put on the shade canopy.
Soon we will be adding spectator shade for Field #1 at Walker-Hawk starting to plan for next year's projects.
What would you like to see in our parks in 2027?

You may have noticed some construction going on a City Lake Park. This 30'X30' Pavilion was constructed using funds from the Collin County Funding Assistance Program & City Funds. We're so excited for City Lake Park users to have access to this new amenity. The pavilion is lighted (press the button) and next week will have 3 tables under it including a kid size picnic style table.
For now the pavilion is not rentable, but use of the pavilion will be 1st come 1st serve similar to the pavilion at the splash park.

Parks Maintenance Worker David Smith qualified for the Texas Recreation & Parks Society State Parks Maintenance Rodeo in Corpus Christi last Tuesday. He had the opportunity to compete against the best in the State in the Backpack Blower event. He battled 15mph wind gusts using the blower to push a tennis ball across asphalt through cones and across the finish line. David was a fierce competitor and while he didn’t walk away with the win we are very proud of his performance and how he represented Royse City Parks Department at the State competition.
Please join us in congratulating David on a job well done!
