We're proud to have K9 Tessa on the Royse City Police Department team.

Thank you to the United States Secret Service and the National Computer Forensics Institute for providing this valuable resource and specialized training.

It was exciting to see Tessa and Detective Mason recently featured by local news outlets as they demonstrated how ESD K9s help locate hidden electronic devices that may contain critical evidence.

We're grateful for the partnership and the opportunity to showcase this unique capability.

Tessa is excited about the news coverage.

Our Parks team has reviewed the upcoming weather reports and the potential for rain/lighting/thunder is great enough that we don't feel today is a safe weather day to proceed with this event.
We are disappointed to have to make this announcement but keep an eye on our page for a future announcement of a reschedule date later in the summer when conditions are better suited for a safe and enjoyable event.

E-Bike Safety and Texas Law

With summer in full swing, we're seeing more e-bikes being ridden throughout our community. While e-bikes can be a fun and convenient way to travel, it's important for riders and parents to understand the laws and safety requirements that apply to them.

In this video, Officer Rojas explains the three classes of e-bikes recognized in Texas and the requirements that define a legal e-bike.

A legal e-bike must:
• Have fully operable pedals
• Have an electric motor rated at less than 750 watts
• Have a maximum assisted speed of 28 mph or less

Additional requirements and restrictions apply depending on whether the e-bike is classified as a Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3 e-bike.

Parents, now is a great time to talk with your children about riding responsibly, obeying traffic laws, and wearing a helmet.

Remember:
• Riders must obey all traffic laws and signals
• Ride in the same direction as traffic
• Stay alert and avoid distractions
• Class 3 e-bike operators must be at least 15 years old
• Not all electric bikes sold online qualify as legal e-bikes under Texas law
• Off-road dirt bikes are not permitted on public roadways
• Violations may result in citations

Ride Smart. Ride Safe.
