I have spent 22 yrs serving my country and after being wounded and having some service related medical complications I was really struggling to find a purpose. In the winter of 2017 after a substantial health scare I was mentally in a bad spot. Thanks to my friends like Ryan they saw I needed to try something life changing. I was invited to the "Warrior Ride" through Paul Thackers PT11 foundation which gets disabled Veterans out on snowmobile trips with riders like Chris Burandt and Matt Entz. I grew up on snowmobiles and riding in the midwest so I was comfortable on sleds. Until I was introduced to the Rockies, Chris Burandt, Altitude, deep snow and riding through Avalanche's. It was exhilerating and scary but it was a chance of a life time. I came away from that first ride with so many question as well as my new found passion.
I came home to Washington and bought a snowmobile and started to teach myself to ride in the Mountains here in the Pacific Northwest. In March of 2020 while I was at another Warrior Ride at Matt Entz's (Mountain Skillz) my wife had entered my in an "Honor your Hero" sled giveaway through Dan Adams at Next Level riding Clinic. I ultimately won an RMK 850 and while I was at Dan's in Alpine we discussed starting a nonprofit. It was shortly after Rob Kincad passed and Avalanche awareness was on the rise. We discussed many options and our demographic and settled on All American Heroes Foundation. 501c3
All American Heroes Foundation (AAHF) is founded on the belief that when veterans are involved in the process, it makes the result much more rewarding. We believe that bridging the gap between dependence to empowerment and to freedom is priceless. Many disabled veterans suffer from TBI, PTSD, depression as well as mobility issues, but that doesnโt end there. With our 7 pillars of development: Re-integration, Education, Challenge, Teamwork, Adapting, Overcoming and Achievement play a crucial role in the โPost Traumatic Growthโ for our Veterans and First Responders which helps create the tools for growth. There is no better place to find yourself than in the backcountry of the Western United States learning a new skill with your Brothers in Arms.
All American Heroes Foundation provides opportunities for Veterans and First Responders to participate in outdoor recreational activities and education in the great outdoors. Through our Avalanche Awareness, Search and Rescue (SAR), Heroes Riding Clinics and Backcountry Wilderness Training we have created a platform for our Veterans and First Responders with varied skillsets to reach their own individual peak.
