Just before midnight, the Roxbury Township Fire Department was dispatched to Laurie Road in the Landing section of town for a reported residential structure fire.

The first arriving chief confirmed a working fire in the garage and requested a second alarm assignment, bringing additional personnel and equipment to the scene. The first arriving engine quickly went to work, extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading beyond the garage and into the living area of the home.

Thank you to all the mutual aid departments that assisted at the scene and provided station coverage while crews operated.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Roxbury Fire Prevention Bureau.

🚒 Rescue Show & Tell — Mutual Aid Edition! 🛠️

Tonight, members of Roxbury Fire Companies 1 & 2 traveled to Budd Lake for a mutual aid “Rescue Show & Tell.”

Rescue trucks and crews from Allamuchy Fire, Mt. Olive Fire (Budd Lake & Flanders), Long Valley First Aid Squad, and Roxbury Fire Companies 1 & 2 came together to check out each department’s equipment, tools, and specialized rescue capabilities.

Members had the opportunity to walk through the different apparatus, compare equipment, share ideas, and learn what resources each department can bring to an emergency.

While getting a close-up look at everyone’s rescue trucks is always fun, nights like this serve an important purpose. Knowing the capabilities of our mutual aid partners before an emergency happens helps all of us work more efficiently when we’re called to work together.

Great night of training, learning, and building relationships with the departments we work alongside. 🚒🤝

Roxbury Fire Department | 48-Hour Activity Update

Over the past 48 hours, the Roxbury Fire Department has responded to 13 fire and rescue-related incidents and 8 medical calls within Roxbury Township and neighboring communities through mutual aid.

Responses included:

• 3 electrical-related incidents
• 3 motor vehicle accidents
• 1 assist to the Police Department
• 2 water-related search and recovery incidents, including a mutual aid response to Mount Olive
• 8 medical calls
• Additional fire and rescue-related incidents

During the water-related responses, Marine 2 and its onboard sonar system were deployed to assist with underwater search operations. Crews worked alongside the New Jersey State Police TEAMS Unit and Marine Services Bureau, New Jersey State Park Police, Parsippany Rescue and Recovery Dive Team, Long Valley First Aid Squad’s drone unit, Rockaway Township White Meadow Lake, Jefferson Fire Department Company 2 , Morris County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit, Morris County Communications Center, Roxbury Township Police Department, and received logistical support from the Canteen Unit.

We would also like to thank Flanders Fire Department, Budd Lake Fire Department, and Chester Fire Department for providing station coverage while our crews operated at one of yesterday’s water-related incidents.

For yesterday’s water-related operations, we also acknowledge the EMS partners who supported the response, including Morris County Office of Emergency Management EMS, Saint Clare’s EMS, and Hopatcong EMS.

These responses demonstrate the importance of maintaining specialized equipment and strong working relationships between local, county, and state agencies. Marine 2 and its sonar capabilities continue to provide an important resource for Roxbury Township and our surrounding communities when requested for mutual aid.

The Officers and Members of the Roxbury Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to the Moros family and our brothers and sisters of the Netcong Fire Department on the heartbreaking loss of Firefighter Sean Moros.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sean’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time. May they find strength and comfort in the support of the fire service family.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

The July 3rd storm will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most significant weather events our community has experienced in years—much like the historic “Snowtober” storm of 2011.

Over the five days that followed, the Roxbury Fire Department responded to 69 emergency calls, including 28 calls in the first five hours alone. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly the number of calls our department would typically handle in an entire month.

Behind every response was a dedicated volunteer who answered the call, many of whom did so on little to no sleep while their own families were at home without power and dealing with the same impacts as the rest of the community.

We are incredibly proud of the men and women of the Roxbury Fire Department. Their commitment, professionalism, and selfless service are what make this department so special. Thank you to our volunteers for your unwavering dedication to protecting the community you proudly call home.

🚨 Public Safety Notice 🚨

Smoke from the ongoing Canadian wildfires has once again moved into our area. Residents may notice hazy skies and a strong odor of smoke at times over the coming days.

If you see smoke or smell smoke and are unsure whether it is related to the wildfires or a local fire, do not hesitate to call 911. It is always better to report a potential emergency so it can be investigated than to assume it is wildfire smoke.

The Roxbury Fire Department will continue to monitor conditions and respond to all reports of potential fires to help keep our community safe.
