What a weekend! Congratulations to the Person County Special Olympics bowling team on their medals at the state level!

We are incredibly proud of our athletes for their hard work, determination, and outstanding performances on the lanes this weekend. Their dedication paid off, and they represented Person County with skill, sportsmanship, and heart.

Congratulations to all of our bowlers on their achievements! We are so proud of you! Thank you to the coaches, staff, families, and supporters who helped make this experience possible.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 What once held paperwork is now growing possibility!

At PI & PCRC, we’re giving filing cabinets a second life as raised garden beds by launching a hands-on gardening curriculum. Through this program, our consumers are building life skills, exploring nature, and experiencing the joy of growing their own food. We’re also creating a sensory garden (engaging smell, touch, taste, and sight) so every participant can connect with the garden in a way that’s meaningful to them. This is just the beginning of a larger project we’re incredibly excited to grow, and we can’t wait to see where it leads.

A special thank you to Lowe's Home Improvement, Roses discount store, and Landscape Supply & Equipment Rentals for donating supplies and helping make this vision possible.

What an incredible day at the Person County Special Olympics spring games this past Friday!

From the moment the events kicked off, the energy, determination, and pure joy from our athletes lit up the entire field. Every race, every throw, and every cheer reminded us what these games are all about: courage, inclusion, and celebrating every victory, big or small.

We are so proud of all the athletes who gave it their all and showed what true sportsmanship looks like. And a huge thank you to Special Olympics Person County and the volunteers, families, and community members who made the day so special.

🧡 Today we wear orange with purpose! 🧡

March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. We wear orange as a reminder to stand together for inclusion, visibility, and respect for people of all abilities. For adults with developmental disabilities, true inclusion means more than awareness; it means access to opportunities, meaningful employment, community connection, and being valued for who they are.

Did you know? Many adults with developmental disabilities face barriers to employment and social inclusion, even though they bring unique strengths, creativity, and perspectives to our communities. We advocate, educate, and include to help break down those barriers.

🎵"Why does it feel like, somebody's watching me?" 🎵 BECAUSE WE ARE! We have signs posted all over the facility that list items that are accepted and specifics of what NOT to drop off. We also have VERY GOOD CAMERAS 😉 We greatly appreciate the support of the Person County Sherriff's Department in contacting those who dump illegally. Just remember - we see you, we will contact you, and you will be asked to return to clean up YOUR mess 🙂 Happy Friday!

Recycling Center gates will open at 9 am and offices with open at 10 am

On Thursday, County offices will open at 10 a.m. (PATS will begin operations at 8 a.m., if road conditions permit.) A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Mixed precipitation with below-freezing temperatures is expected overnight, and roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
