**New Thermal Imaging Camera**
The Roxboro-Person County Rescue Squad would like to recognize Enbridge Gas NC for their generous donation of $5,500.00 in assisting with the purchase of a new Flir K series thermal imaging camera for our rescue company. A Thermal Imaging Camera is one of the most powerful tools in the fire & rescue service, especially for volunteer departments that respond to everything from house fires, missing person calls, vehicle accidents, water rescue calls and searches in the woods to name a few. Support from community partners like Enbridge Gas NC plays a vital role in helping us provide the highest level of service. We are truly grateful for the generosity and commitment to the safety of our community. Thank you for your support of The Roxboro-Person County Rescue Squad and the citizens we proudly serve.
For those who don’t know, thermal imaging cameras are one of the most valuable tools a rescue firefighter can carry. In a smoke-filled environment where visibility is reduced to nearly zero, these cameras allow the rescue firefighters to “see” heat, helping them quickly locate victims, identify hidden fire, and navigate safely through dangerous conditions.
A thermal imaging camera can reveal hot spots hidden behind walls or ceilings, allowing crews to extinguish fires more effectively while reducing the chance of the fire reigniting. It also helps rescue firefighters monitor changing fire conditions, locate overheating equipment, and improve search and rescue operations when every second counts.
While thermal imaging cameras are not a replacement for proper training or firefighting tactics, they are a critical tool that enhances firefighter safety, speeds up emergency operations, and ultimately helps save lives and protect property. This will be the first TIC ever put into service for the Roxboro-Person County Rescue Squad.
