Happy Texas Girls in STEM Day!

This year marks our 7th annual celebration of the legislation I authored to expose young girls to Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics.

Each year, we see schools, colleges, organizations, and community leaders across Texas bring this vision to life in powerful ways, creating hands-on experiences, mentorship opportunities, and pathways into careers where women continue to break barriers.

Thank you to Senator Nathan Johnson for carrying this bill in the Senate, and to my House and Senate colleagues who helped make it possible and continue to celebrate its passage and impact with us. A special shout oit goes to Representative Mihaela E. Plesa!

Our office will celebrate later this month on March 29th, and I look forward to highlighting the incredible work happening across our state.

This bill continues to show that exposure builds confidence.
Access builds opportunity.
And when girls can see it, they can become it.

Seven years later, the impact is undeniable and we are just getting started.

Today we lost an icon.
A giant. A drum major for justice.

My father had the honor of meeting him and years later, during my first quorum break, so did I. That moment meant more than I can fully express.

I wish I could tell him, “Don’t you worry. We’ll keep hope alive.”

Because of him, I know that I am somebody.

Rest well, Reverend. Your voice echoes on.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas all across HD 113! From Rowlett to Garland to Mesquite, the joy of the season is radiating everywhere, showing up in our neighborhoods, our celebrations, and the way we uplift one another. 

This time of year reminds me how blessed I am to serve a community filled with warmth, compassion, and a true spirit of unity. Everywhere I go, I see families creating lasting memories, neighbors lending a helping hand, and communities shining brighter than ever. My heart is full. ❤️💚
