Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I have filed for a seat on the board of the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District. While I have been encouraged by many to run for an elected office, I have preferred to serve my community in less visible positions with local, community organizations and projects, but a big flood charted a new course for me. I moved my family to Round Rock in 1995 f
or the safety, schools, and the opportunity that Williamson County afforded. Since then, we have knitted our lives together with the people of this community, working hand-in hand to nurture and protect the blessings that have been bestowed on us. Both of my daughters graduated from Round Rock High School where my wife, Starr, was a teacher. I built three businesses from the ground up; previously a roofing company and currently, MSF Real Estate Investments, and Mike Freeman Properties. I have worked with the City of Round Rock to address issues pertaining to real estate, zoning, traffic, and many other issues. For the past 4-5 years, I have been working with them on flooding issues. On September 8, 2010, Tropical Storm Hermine flooded forty-three homes in Round Rock West along with many other homes in Williamson County and upended the lives of many people. As president of the Round Rock West Neighborhood Association, I did everything in my power to organize relief efforts, and it was at this time that I became aware of the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District and its purpose. The UBCWCID is responsible for the operation and maintenance of twenty-three dams within the Upper
Brushy Creek watershed in the Brazos River Basin of Williamson County. Currently, others are working to improve the dams that protect our neighborhoods, but I feel the need to take a hands-on role in the process to ensure that our homes truly are protected. Rolling up my sleeves and working in the trenches for the betterment of Williamson County has always been something I’ve taken great pride in, and it was humbling to have been chosen as Citizen of the Year in 2013 by the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce. From my work with the Chamber, to my neighborhood association, to the Round Rock Serving Center, to the ACC Round Rock Campus Advisory Committee and many other area
organizations, I have done my best to care for this community with a servant’s heart. While the UBCWCID is an obscure entity that many are not aware exists, it serves a very important purpose and that is to create lasting safety and security for our homes and families. For me to win one of the seats in this election, I need your help. I need your support, and your vote in this important non-partisan election which will take place on May 7, 2016. Early Voting is Monday, April 25-Saturday April 30. If you are willing to join me in this effort, please forward this letter to your friends and neighbors and ask them to join our cause as well. Thank you for your consideration, and should you have any questions regarding the UBCWCID or my
candidacy, please feel free to call me anytime at 512-694-9769.
