August is National Immunization Awareness Month.

Vaccines continue to be an important part of staying healthy throughout adulthood. Which vaccines are recommended can depend on your age, health history, occupation, and other risk factors.

The Texas Adult Safety Net program helps uninsured adults age 19 and older receive certain vaccines through participating providers.

If you are not sure which vaccines you may need, talk with your healthcare provider and review your vaccination history with them.

So while the menu slowly loses its battle with August, you’ve got a much easier decision to make: which day are you claiming for lunch?

☀️ HEAT ALERT FOR OUR COMMUNITY ☀️

Extreme heat continues across our area, with temperatures expected to reach 109–110°F over the next several days.

Fisher County Hospital District reminds everyone to take precautions during this period of dangerous heat. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, take frequent breaks if working outdoors, and check on elderly family members, neighbors, children, and others who may be especially vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency- call 911 immediately if someone develops confusion, loss of consciousness, seizures, or other signs of severe heat illness.

Please take care of yourself and look out for one another. In a rural community, checking on a neighbor can make a difference.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.

This summer, Fisher County Hospital District was excited to launch our very first Summer Student Work Program, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the students who joined us!

They have truly been a blessing to FCHD, helping in so many areas throughout the district. From scanning and filing to painting, cleaning, organizing, and everything in between, they were always willing to jump in wherever they were needed.

We are so grateful for their hard work, positive attitudes, and the time they spent with us this summer. We hope they gained valuable work experience along the way, and we are proud to have had the opportunity to be a small part of their journey.

As they head off to college and begin a new school year, we wish them nothing but success! We know they have bright futures ahead, and we can’t wait to see all they accomplish.
