Our brownstone townhome development gets its name from the book, “Providence: Selected Correspondence of George Hull Camp,” which captures a love story in the 1800s in Roswell between George Camp and his soon-to-be wife, Jane Atwood.

George said, shortly after moving to Roswell, “I do in my most hidden soul bless the Providence that has turned my steps in such pleasant paths, and it shall be my care ever to merit the confidence and esteem of those I so much love.” After marrying Jane, George became a manufacturer, the first postmaster of Roswell and successor to his mentor, Barrington King.

Co-authored by local historians Connie M. Cox and Darlene M. Walsh (a Lehigh Homes family member), and published in 2008, the book presents over 400 letters from George’s life. We thank George for his Providence in moving to Roswell over 150 years ago and for providing our new community with such a strong tie to history.
