🚒 Pump Operations Training Day 🚒

Today, firefighters from across the area came together for an intensive 8-hour Pump Operations Class taught by the Ohio Fire Academy.

Departments represented included:
• Ross Township
• Hanover Township
• City of Oxford
• Crosby Township
• Whitewater Township

The class focused on basic pump operations, drafting, and hands-on training with our engines and tankers. It served as a great refresher for our experienced operators while providing valuable knowledge and practical experience for our newer drivers.

Training like this helps ensure our personnel remain prepared to deliver the best possible service to our communities when called upon.

A special thank you to the Ohio Fire Academy for providing this training free of charge and investing in the continued development of our firefighters.

Congratulations to Captain Embry on an incredible accomplishment!

Township Administrator Laurie Kile, Assistant Chief Morris, Retired Chief Miller, and Chief Johns traveled to Columbus to attend Captain Embry’s Ohio Fire Executive (OFE) graduation, celebrating the completion of an intensive 2.5-year leadership program designed to develop and prepare leaders within the fire service.

The dedication and commitment required to complete this program cannot be overstated. Throughout the course, each OFE Class 24 participant:

▪️ Attended nearly 200 hours of classroom instruction.
▪️ Wrote and submitted over 30 assigned papers.
▪️ Read selected or entire chapters from 16 different books.
▪️ Read 50 or more assigned articles.
▪️ Prepared and delivered two 20-minute presentations using PowerPoint.
▪️ Gave two impromptu speeches.
▪️ Conducted an applied research project and submitted a final written paper for the OFE archives.
▪️ Prepared and submitted an organizational evaluation for their home department.
▪️ Devoted more than 400 hours outside of class completing assignments and research.

This achievement represents countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to professional growth and excellence.

We are also proud to share that all of our administrative officers are graduates of the Ohio Fire Executive program, reflecting our department’s dedication to strong leadership, continued education, and providing the highest level of service to our community.

Please join us in congratulating Captain Embry on this well-deserved accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of this milestone and grateful for leaders who continue to invest in themselves, their department, and the future of the fire service. 🚒🎓👏

Last Thursday, our crews had a great time stopping by Venice Presbyterian Preschool! 🚒

The kids got to tour the fire truck, check out some of our equipment and gear, and learn a little more about what firefighters do every day.

We always enjoy getting out into the community and spending time with our youngest residents. Thank you to Venice Presbyterian Preschool for having us! ❤️🚒
