We are pleased to have welcomed five new Officers to our ranks over the past five months. 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️👮‍♂️👮‍♀️👮‍♂️👏👏

Officer Lempke and Officer French graduated on May 18th from the Macomb Police Academy and started our two-week in-house training this past Wednesday.

Officer Ballor and Officer Szalkiewicz also graduated from the Macomb Police Academy on December 10, 2025. The two are in the final stages of our FTO training program and are exceeding expectations as Officers.

All four of these Officers came from our Police Cadet program and all are excellent additions to our team!

Officer O'Donnell joined our team back in December too after transferring from another department. Officer O'Donnell has brought his experience and knowledge of the job to us and we are thrilled to have him.

Congratulations to all of you and we wish you long, healthy, and productive careers in law enforcement! 💙💙💙💙💙

Message from the Chief of Police:

On Administrative Assistant Day, we want to recognize how fortunate our department is to have an Administrative Coordinator like Nicole Adams—she is truly exceptional.

I’ve often said that if there’s one person this police department simply cannot afford to lose, it’s Nicole. The range of responsibilities she handles is remarkable. From stepping in to assist us at the landfill to ensuring our timesheets are accurate so everyone is paid correctly, she consistently goes above and beyond. No matter the task or unexpected issue, Nicole gets it done.

We are incredibly lucky to have her. On behalf of the Roseville Police Department, thank you, Nicole—you are the best.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own – Officer Jeremy France.

All who knew him or worked with him, felt his infectious personality, his unforgettable laughter, and his all-around good-hearted nature. He was a friend to all, a best friend to others and authentic in every way.

Jeremy’s bright star was extinguished far too soon. His quirkiness and easy-going personality may never be duplicated, and he brought laughter and joy to everyone around him.

Jeremy was dedicated to his profession and proudly served this community for 13 years. He was a true professional in every sense of the word.

Our prayers, condolences and unwavering support go out to his family and loved ones.

Jeremy… We love you and will miss you more than you could ever know.

Rest easy, Brother – May God watch over you and may you forever be at eternal peace.

From time to time, local businesses and organizations will donate items to our department and we are blessed to receive each and every donation gifted. However, we sometimes need to lean on our community support teams to help distribute these things throughout the area. On Monday, we leaned on Pastor Moe Edwards to help us spread the love to many deserving children by delivering three pallets of donated toys and bicycle helmets. Pastor Moe is excited to get the toys and helmets out into the community and we are elated to think of how these things will positively impact our local kids. Thank you Pastor Moe for being a great partner and friend to our department.

We also want to thank Judy at Ollie's Roseville who previously donated the toys to us. We appreciate the generosity from your organization and our continued collaboration with respect to community engagement! 💙

Chief Berlin, Sgt. Lesperance and Det. Lukasavage had the privilege of being invited to Ruth Green Elementary yesterday to read to some awesome children. The kids were able to listen to Sgt. Lesperance's animated reading skills, they talked back and forth to one another on the police radios, and they were able to ask lots of questions about our roles as police officers. They also got to experience seeing our MRAP armored vehicle and some brave kids even went inside and popped their heads up into the turret to see the view from above.

Thank you to the teachers and staff at Ruth Green Elementary for allowing us to be a part of the learning process. 📚📖✏️📘

This past Friday, we heard the call on the radio that every police officer prepares for but never wants to hear… Officer down. This is your co-worker, fellow brother or sister, friend, but most importantly… A family member who needs your help.

The sound of the words just echoed across the airwaves do not make sense at the time because we train for these situations. We run these scenarios through our heads repeatedly. You say to yourself, we were tactically sound, but it still happened… Officer down. And we respond in spades. An all-hands-on deck kind of response.

Our wounded officer received immediate medical attention from fellow officers, and we are extremely grateful to the medical community who rendered care. We are happy to report that the officer is home and resting comfortably with his family. 💙

Our officers were able to remain mission focused to resolve this incident quickly. This was expedited with the help of our fellow law enforcement partners who stepped up to the call for assistance and battled bitter cold temperatures to restore calm and peace to the community.

Chief Berlin wants to acknowledge all the well-wished support for our wounded officer, all the officers involved and for the unwavering support from our law enforcement brothers, sisters, and partners. It has been overwhelming, but it is very much appreciated. Thank you.
