Garbage trucks are always a crowd favorite, and for good reason! These trucks can service hundreds of homes in a single day and handle some seriously heavy loads. It is no surprise Waste Services events draw the biggest crowds year after year. Come see why at Big Trucks!

Not all public works heroes wear hard hats. Some are protecting wetlands, rescuing hawks, and relocating snakes from construction sites.

For Public Works Week, meet Caroline Clarkson, an Environmental Compliance Specialist helping protect the natural spaces and wildlife our community depends on every day. From restoring vernal pools to saving a Swainson’s hawk nestling, her work is making a real impact behind the scenes.

A split-second decision can change everything.
This video shows a recent fire caused by a lithium-ion battery thrown into the trash and crushed inside a garbage truck. It marks the fourth truck fire since the start of the year.
What begins as a routine collection route can turn dangerous within seconds, putting our drivers, crews, equipment, and community at risk.

Batteries found in power tools, laptops, e-bikes, phones, and other rechargeable devices do not belong in trash or recycling carts. One spark is all it takes.

Please do your part:
* Keep batteries out of all carts
* Tape battery terminals before disposal
* Drop batteries off at the Materials Recovery Facility or an approved recycling location

Our crews are out there every day helping keep the community clean and safe. Preventing fires like this starts at home.
