Today, Records Clerk Carter Christiansen retired after 18 years of service with the Roseville Police Department.

Carter spent most of his years with RPD working as a Correctional Officer and eventually Correctional Supervisor. Carter was the last person to manage the Roseville Police Department Jail. The RPD Jail closed in 2015 and Supervisor Christiansen wanted to continue his career with RPD so he was reassigned to the Records Unit.

Carter was a valued member of the RPD team and brought a diverse background of experience that he utilized every day on the job. He was a pleasure to work with and always brought a positive attitude to his assignments.

Congratulations on a great career.

Happy CSI Week! Our CSI unit (short for Crime Scene Investigators) is a very important part of the police department team. They attend autopsies, take finger prints, reconstruct accident scenes, analyze evidence and perform preliminary tests to determine types of drugs and chemicals, as wall as many other duties. To thank them for all their hard work and dedication, CSI Barcus (left) and CSI Supervisor Screeton (right) were presented with Starbucks gift cards for their entire unit, from the RPA. Thank you for your service!

Our Member of the Quarter for October - December is CSO Alfonso Loza! The following statements are what Alfonso's peers are saying.

He is a very hardworking employee who handles a lot of calls as a CSO.
He is always very helpful and willing to help out even when he has a lot on his plate. He is extremely proactive in responding to calls for service.
He takes lead in serious situations, for example, responding to a vehicle accident and triaging the dynamics, whether it be an injured person, traffic control, or requesting a tow.
He makes an effort to understand other units in the department.
He is a good team player who is currently taking on a lot of extra shifts to assist his fellow coworkers.
Alfonso always comes to work prepared and ready to take on the day and is always in a good mood!

Congratulations to our Member of the Quarter, Property and Evidence Clerk Megan Sherba! Here are some of the nice things our membership said about Megan that made choosing her so easy:

“Megan consistently provides excellent customer service to our inside and outside customers. She always has a positive attitude and is ready to help anyone that asks. In this past quarter she has tackled on the following additional tasks on top of her everyday work:

• With the loss of our Community Outreach and Communication Analyst position she has volunteered to assist with the coordination of department tours. By doing this she is maintaining our connection to the community, and is representing the PD in a positive manner.
• Megan Represented RPD at the 2019 Missing in California event in Sacramento. This is the second year in a row she has volunteered to help provide families with resources and assistance.
• And lastly, I asked Megan to help contact an owner of a vehicle that was being stored in our overflow lot and she proceeded to not only handle that vehicle she took the time to work with detectives to clear out several vehicles from the overflow lot and made a HUGE difference.

These three things were all done during this last quarter. Megan really has an amazing work ethic and gives everything she’s got in all that she does. The Property Unit and the department are fortunate to have her.”

Officer Cameron Michael Landon passed away in his sleep on July 16, 2019 at his home in Roseville, California. He was only 36 years old; a loving and devoted family man, a proud Marine and a loyal and passionate community servant.

A Grass Valley native, Cameron was born on August 23, 1982 at Sierra Nevada Hospital, the first of two sons to Jon Landon and Cynthia Catton. He graduated from Nevada Union High School in 2001, then attended Santa Barbara City College and later earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix.

Cameron served in the Marine Corps from 2005 to 2009. In that time, he completed a tour in Iraq and met his beautiful wife, Angela Sordello, before returning home to Grass Valley, where he began his career in law enforcement. Cameron was a correctional officer for the Nevada County Sheriff's Department, then joined the Grass Valley Police Department in 2013. In 2015, he and his growing family moved to Roseville, California, where he served as a police officer and a member of the SWAT team.

Loved ones knew him as just “Cam,” a fun-loving, funny and dependable guy who was happiest when he was with his family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors with Angela and their boys. He also liked watching TV and movies, and listened to all kinds of music, from country to Metallica to techno (but hated rap, sorry Chan). He will be missed most for his huge heart, his handsome smile, and his amazing ability to see the good in everything.

Cameron is preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Catton, and three grandparents, Howie and Ronalie Landon and Paul Preston.

He is survived by his wife, Angela, and sons Wyatt, 4, and Weston, 2; parents Jon and Valerie Landon; brother Chandler (Anna) Landon; sisters Shauna (Justin) Sanders, Cori Landon and Jacy (Jon) Davis; grandmother Diane Preston; and so many nieces and nephews who love and adore him.

A memorial for Cameron will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 10:30am at Bayside Church Adventure, 6401 Stanford Ranch Road in Roseville.

Family, friends, and the law enforcement community are welcome to attend to honor Cameron
