This is great news. I had the privilege to join Krista Bernasconi - Mayor, City of Roseville, Roseville's Economic Development Director Melissa Anguiano, the Greater Sacramento Economic Development team and others in the region to visit BOSCH's Fab Facility in Germany earlier this year.
Silicon carbide chips help to enable greater range and more efficient recharging in battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles to provide affordable electromobility options for consumers.
Bosch has reached a preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) with the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding federal funding under the CHIPS and Science Act for our semiconductor plant in Roseville, California where we are currently investing up to $1.9 billion to transform the site. Beginning in 2026, the Bosch Roseville facility will produce chips on 200-millimeter wafers based on the pioneering SiC Bosch technology.
We are also helping to build up semiconductor expertise for the future in the community around the Roseville site. The Bosch Community Fund has provided a $100,000 grant to the Sierra College Foundation for its Career Technical Education Support Fund.
