I am laughing and cringing at this picture, as these are the books that were cleared out in their entirety a couple of days ago.

Usually, when this happens, it is because someone is planning to sell the books to a used book store.

Lucky for me, Nicole Feltz, my silent partner in crime, saw the empty library before I did and replentished the books.

Hopefully this was a one-time occurrence. There are different schools of thought on this kind of thing, ranging from "if they need the money that much, they can have the books!" to stamping the books and asking local bookstores to refuse to buy Little Fee Library books, to taking the whole thing down for a while. Never a dull moment.

Bonjour! LFL #79084, Notre Dame de Brenner, is up and running!

I actually installed the Library on October 9, but someone took my bench less than three hours after I set it out, while my daughter and I were walking around the block. The smell of fresh paint was still in the air. Talk about feeling deflated.

But wouldn't you know, one big, bright "PLEASE RETURN THE BENCH" sign and 7 days later, someone DID return my bench, much to the delight of 100 or so people on Nextdoor who had been rooting for Goodness to prevail. (Or pointing out that it was pretty naive of me to put something next to the curb thinking no one would take it. Touchee.)

Today I "re-installed" the whole thing, complete with a cable lock for the bench, a solar flood light, instructions on the inside, an interior night light, and a little guest book. Miraculously pulled off between downpours, to boot! I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of outfitting my little bijou!

If only the weather would cooperate, people might start stopping by! :) But that's what you get for putting up a LFL in late October in Minnesota!

I'm excited to see where the Library takes my neighbors and me! Hooray for community, for sharing, and of course, for reading!
